"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I have a number of different breeds, partly for eye candy in the yard, partly for a pretty egg basket and partly to decide on which breed(s) I like best. At the moment I have a cream legbar, 2 black and 1 blue copper marans, 4 blue laced red wyandottes, 2 lavender orpingtons, 2 bielefelders, 2 Easter eggers and an olive egger. I got the marans and legbar as chicks in June and then decided to try my hand at hatching eggs.

Crested cream legbars are the next breed I want. Tell me about your legbars. What's there personality like are they flighty? Are yours laying yet? Do you have a pair? I have golden laced Wyandotte's and a Easter egger. I'm also thinking of getting Orpingtons. I ended up with one bantam it was the last chick left when I got the Wyandotte's so I couldn't. Leave it behind. I forgot to ask what breed it is so once a week I post a pic and play name that breed. so far no luck its to young to tell. She has the best personality. when I go to the coop she jumps in my hands loves to be held. The wyandottes haven't figured out to go up in the coop yet. the other night she was on the ramp calling the to come up in the coop. She is smarter then the others.
If you hatch extra legbars put me at the top of your list for chicks.Pam

Eight little Sulmtalers made it into the world today! I'm smiling from ear to ear!!

Congratulations on the fluffy butts. Pam

My pom that killed the possum this week has hip dysplasia he was 4 years old. The vet wanted me to have his hip ball joint cut out. To me this sounded barbaric. He was in pain couldn't even jump on the couch anymore. I called my friend who is a vet and teaches at U of Ohio she asked if I had tried MSM. I hadn't tried it. I had my shepherds on Nu-Vet plus the breeder had told me about it but Buster didn't like it so I didn't push it. I went to there site to see about the Msm. They had just come out with a product called nu-joint. I ordered it Buster liked it in fact all my dogs like it. With in 3 days I noticed how much softer their coat was. I was doubling the dose for buster with in a month he started running again. Shortly after that he was jumping on the couch. This week he killed a possum. If you try it Grumpy Gus might turn back to just Gus maybe even stick around longer than you think. Pam
Gus is on Greenies joint care. I notice a difference in him when he's on it. He's just had this for so many years that I think his time is coming. We have been preparing the children for his passing for YEARS!!! He has outlived two other dogs, one of wich was only 3 years old (cancer). I will have to look into the MSM and the nu-joint.
Gus is a great dog. He loves everyone EXCEPT delivery people. He HATES the feed truck guy and any sort of package delivery person. Years ago a delivery truck hit him and he remembers. Also, the feed truck driver partially ran his head over. Gus knows that feed comes on Wednesday and hides and waits for the guy. In the feed truck driver's defense, he was not up the one day and Gus was biting his tires when he got run over. I'm starting to think that Gus could outlive ALL of us!! This time of year, there are lots of deliveries, so Gus is put up a lot!!

x 2 !!!!! All the questions Pam asked!! Pam, I like my orpingtons. I have two blue, but one is black and on is blue. The two have very different personalities. One is super sweet and wants to be right by you, and the other, while curious, doesn't want to be handled. My blue ameracauna (spelling?) (Lou Lou) is one of my favorites. She's more like a dog than chicken! My EE (Edna) is a PIP!!
