I really enjoyed reading this post. You are good people for sure!

And you are right about those "brand new adults". My daughter keeps saying she wants to go to college for art. ((sigh)) I wish there were an assessment test that could tell you if your kid REALLY, REALLY has a decent chance at doing well. I am her parent, soooooo, I am pretty sure my opinion of her art is biased. Lol!

2 things she needs to know:

1. Art teachers can be harsh. Also art majors are required to have an art review every year to continue being an art student.

2. Getting a job with an Art degree will NOT be easy. Most of my husbands college graduating class have dead end jobs (Lowe's, McDonalds, Walmart, etc... Even the more talented ones.) Him getting his teaching job was 2/3 luck (the position opening at the perfect moment) and 1/3 that he skipped walking to get a leg up and was doing interviews and meetings while everyone else was in the ceremony. Also he's having to take additional classes at LC to get fully certified.

Art is a wonderful thing (I'm more of an artist myself also) and I would not discourage her passion, but she needs to think hard about being an Art Major. It may prove better for her to take a minor in art and major in something else.

Also my husband will probably be having one of his former professors and head of the NSU art department Matt Deford make another visit to his class soon. If she would like to send some samples, maybe I could call a favor and have him look at her stuff and give an opinion.

My hubby and I also have December birthdays. We actually were born on the same day, except 4 years apart. This year I will be 40

We decided to get married on the same day so we could have the same anniversary too.
WOW, just wow

LOL this thread is turning into a December hatched thread for sure. Hey this reminds me, about 4 years ago the group of us that more or less started the Delaware thread(frequented it the most then) we took a poll (forgot how it striked up) but anyway there were a great percentage of us that were red heads, like 90% out of a small number 10-12 persons.

Late October here. I don’t believe in horoscopes but I get a kick out of reading about Scorpios. They never say anything good about us!

Busy here working w/my boss on next year’s budget. I get to leave early & go pick up Jim at the airport. I know he’ll be happy to get home where it’s WARM!!

So I’m having guinea problems. I don’t know WHAT has gotten into them, but they’ve suddenly decided they have to chase the roosters & some of the chickens – and they yank feathers out of them. I did some research & everybody says once they turn mean like that, they won’t stop. I like my guineas – I think they are the coolest things! – but I won’t have my good roos harassed.

Any advice is appreciated!

A few year's ago a co-worker came to me and asked me how did her new outfit look. I told her that it didn't look good. She was SOOOO MAD!!! She stomped away. :somad So, she went to another co-worker to tell them what I told her. That co-worker's response was, "Now you know Julie will give you an honest opinion, so you should have never asked her what she thought. So you brought that upon yourself." Needless to say, she has never been back to ask my opinion about her work attire. :/

I don't know but I guess people want you to stroke and "ta ta" them and tell them what they want to hear? Is that how it goes? :idunno

I had this same conversation with my friend in Asheville . When she went back to the dressing room the sales lady looked at me and said thank god I said it made her look like bozo the clown! We both laughed quietly . Later that day she told her daughter what happened that I wouldn't let her by it. Her daughter looked at me and said thank you! And we both busted out laughing.Pam

Frequently people think my sister and I are rude because we say what we really think. She is even more blunt than I am. But if you ask do you like this outfit on me? Do you like our new carpet or the new paint etc...........sometimes people don't like what they hear in response. Why do people feel compelled to just say agreeing opinions instead of what they really think? And why ask if you don't really want the true answer. I do try to be courteous to people even if I do not like them. But my sister just cannot do that, she translates that as being dishonest. Some people would even call us *itch*
