"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I retreated last weekend for mites. Re-dusted the birds, re-sprayed the coop. I don't know if I'm being overly freakish...I have been REALLY creeped out by this!! I know it will take time for the feathers to grow back, but I still feel that their feathers are continuing to thin around the base of their tail (on their back). I feel like I'm missing something. I've checked them over VERY well and don't see anything on them. But they are continuing to pick at their feathers.

I've looked up pictures of lice, and read about treatment. The Sevin dust I used should take care of mites or lice...right? I'm really frusterated here.

Any thoughts? Should I use a liquid lice treatment? I don't care about "all natural" right now, I just want whatever IT is GONE!!!

Sevin works on both really well. It is like when your kid comes home with head lice, it takes months before you truly feel they are gone even after you know they are. (You know how every head scratch makes you want to check them for lice again.) If it makes you feel better you can treat just the birds a third time (7 days after last treatment) but I am sure with all the care you took that you got rid of them.

Thanks. I might be looking for instant gratification on feather regrowth. I was JUST SO YUCKED out about having an "issue" to begin with!! I like to think I take care in keeping their coop in good standing Bald chickens running around isn't so pretty. I probably will redust a third time. So, I shouldn't spend a fortune and buy the http://www.amazon.com/Frontline-Spray-500mL/dp/B0002J1G02 $56.00 bottle of spray? I was ready to...THIS MUST GO AWAY!!!!!!

Don't laugh...I'm willing to spend the $20. if it works. What are your thoughts on the crop bra? The bird in question is Lucy (blue orpington) She's a big bird. I feel comfortable saying she has a pendulous crop. Other threads talk about a sock...there's just WAY TOO MUCH of Lucy to fit into ANY sock! That's why I'm thinking about the bra. I also don't have time (at all) to try and make something. The vet wrap was it the other day. I even looked in the drugstore at their wraps and braces. Saw a knee brace that had potential, but it was $30. and if it didn't fit, I don't think I could take it back after it had been on a chicken! LOL... What do you guys / gals / commandos think?

Yes, If I were you, I would do it. There are a few people on BYC that used the bra and it saved their bird's like. No joke. Everything that I have read indicated that it works. I will try to find that post and paste it here about the bra.

I say go for it.

Quote: No don't waste the money. Also, there is a link under there where other sellers are selling unopened bottles far cheaper if you still want it for other animals (horses).

Honestly, I haven't seen it before. The principle sounds about right but not ever seeing it in action I can't tell you if it will work or not. For $20 to possibly save her from having to deal with this again it would be worth it. At worst case you can always flip it around and use it as a saddle if needed.

I don't know what a chicken bra looks like but what about those cloth wraps that are but on dogs to keep them from peeing in the house. They came in different sizes and have Velcro to keep it on and adjust . Just a thought.

I say give it a shot. Too bad you don't know anyone who is crafty - it looks super easy to make for someone who sews.

I went...with a pot of flowering Iris. Left my card with a note saying guess I missed you. I came to pick up our buck. Please give me a call. Thanks :)

No bunny :( no answer at the door. No answer to me hollering "hello?" through the fence. I did not trespass and to get to where bunnies are, you have to go through property. I didn't. I'd be quick to shoot a trespasser so I adhere to same rules! I did take a pic as dated proof I was there... That's the anxious in me :(
No car in driveway. I dunno. I'll try again tomorrow and continue to call and maybe search for another contact means. :/ ug.
SHOW UP!!!!  Keep up posted.  I'd go with the attitude of " I know how crazy things get...I called, etc. a couple of times/ days...thought I'd make it easy and just stop by and pick him up so you don't have to drop him off..."  Nice and nice...UNLESS there's a problem...then let HER off the leash!!  Good luck...keep us posted.
Ya we both were sorta time rushed and figured a day or two to try to cover her does. He was brought on his cage. Hubby felt it wasn't a good idea and said its only our time and buck for nothin so why risk it...but they seem so normal...:th he's still working so in ready to go just no ride yet lol

I think I would go over there if they didn't respond. When breeding dogs and you own the stud they bring the female to the stud. I don't know what's the protocall for rabbits but if I didn't know them it would be done at my place. Hope everything works out.
