"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I drove all the way up to Alexandria today to get these little Americana (sp?) chickies! Thanks to the heads up from top dog.

That's great! Let's see now let me count. 3 from the mail and 3 from feed store ummm that's 6? I thought you were getting 4? lmao! Guess you know chicken math! I don't think they teach that in common core. Lol!! Pam

How many days do I need to keep them separate from my other chicks? There are only one week apart.

If their all alive in the morning I'd put them together that's just me providing they are all active and vibrant. The sooner they are together the quicker they become one flock. Someone else might think different that's just what I would do. Pam

Pam, I'll have 3 hatches a couple of weeks each apart. Can I keep adding them to the coop. Something like 4 weeks, then 2 weeks then babies. I have to wait for a while on them. What do you think?

We got our thread up and running

I did this when I got a bunch of needed egg layers at the same place.
I had 3, aweek later 4 more were added, then 2 weeks later 3 more added! I watched them carefully and didn't have an issue. But I had my head hen broody at the time and she was protecting everybody :gig even playing mama to CX meaties. But even now, they all get along well

I would after a few days old. I'd keep a close eye on them. I think the most venerable will be adding the 3rd group to the 1st. The sooner their all together the better chance of one cohesive flock. I've had if both ways throughout the years I like it better when they all live together in one big flock. Pam

Are they laying yet? All of a sudden people are waiting for my excess eggs. I could sell a lot more if I had them. Hope my 4 month olds start laying soon. Pam

Heehee, it makes five. I had four out of five survivers from the original shipment. The replacement they shipped (all three because they ship three at a time) died before they got to me. Out of these three, one is mine. So I'll have a total of five. :)

Two are for my husband's coworker who I just learned is also getting a lesson in chicken math!

No. I have 3 -16 week olds, 4 -15 week olds, 3 12 week olds, 2 garage chickens -one laying it seems, 1 EE layer,1 ameraucana layer, 1 Astrolope* laying and 1 free loading butthead of a Welsummer at over six months and NADA! (im gonna eat her if she doesn't drop an egg soon) , so only 3 technically laying :th
