"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Well, It's day 21 and eggs are ahatching.  White Plymouth Rocks that I bought on here.  The fellow said they were going to grow BIG.  So excited.  Then two have hatched and they aren't yellow.  They are black with some brown underlay.  These are replacements for the scrambled ones.  I think I've been skunked.  They said rock on them.   We'll see.   sigh

I hope you get lucky and they are Black copper Marans, or something better. The Marens lay the dark choclate eggs.

Went to the auction this morning and left without any new chickens. Y'all pray for my husband, because he passed up the olive eggers.

It doesn't matter that I'm still trying to rehome 5-6 of my current chickens, because I'm desperate for beautiful eggs.

So I went to the livestock swap in Pearl River yesterday to try and swap my black silkie roo for any kind of hen. Most of the birds there looked rather sickly. There were a couple of people there who had birds that looked healthy and well cared for, but the vast majority of them looked bad! Are all Swap, Sell, Trade days like that?

I contacted the seller and he said he made a mistake and sent Barred Rocks. The only thing is he doesn't advertise for them. I'll keep an eye on them and report back.

I've never went to the one in pearl river before. The ones I've been to in Covington the chickens looked good. I've bought some and they were healthy. Chickens are starting to molt. They look terrible when they molt. Pam
