I highly doubt anyone here is going to tell you not to hatch eggs. It's a full on hatching enablers group . Because if we aren't doing it, we like to see other people doing it!! Hatch eggs, buy chickens, have fun with chickens, eat chickens..... It's all good!

OK my little RIRs are 2 weeks old today. IF we did this correctly, we feather-sexed them at 1 day of age as 3 males, 3 females -- and IF that is holding true, as of today I spent some time with them & observing them & 3 are definitely still "lighter red - headed" than the other 3, who are darker & all have dark head markings - the 3 "red-heads" were all observed to do the "chest-bumping" play several times & they all appear to have thicker legs and shorter, straighter wings than the other three - the three I think are girls definitely have double-layered wings at this point. I think I may be on to something here, & it may not work for all RIRs but I have raised this line before & I did notice the same traits before, but I didn't keep notes as carefully that time so see if my guesses were correct.
