"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

There isn't a better pole bean out there, our purple hull peas are almost ready to pick, Donna is putting up yellow crook necks, making pickles, and pickle relish, tomatoes are ripening, okra is catching up.

So tiny, haha. Rattlesnake pole beans.

Wow what a great haul! You must have married super woman there. Looks yummy!!!
That was just the first picking, she is getting almost 2, 5 gallon buckets every other day, we had about 30 pint jars and 30 qt. jars when I left last week, she is almost out and using freezer bags for squash and mustard greens, I will be going by my mothers on the way home and getting some more of my grandmothers old jars, then we will have to buy some I guess.

Wow! That's great! Those Los mason jars are valuable especially if any have 13 on the bottom. You won't have to buy much at the store. Wish I lived closer. Except when it's purple hull pea picking day. My Dad grew a big garden like yours and grew those peas. I still remember hulling all those peas every year. Lol!! Can wait till you go home to se pics of the garden. I bet it looks great. Pam

Linda, sorry to hear your selling your flock off for now.

When you get some more you may want to give the Bieles a try. They've really grown on me. You'd also have a close source

if you wanted them. They'd be cheap for you

So glad to know you plan on staying an active member here. You'd be missed.

How's your recovery coming? I hope all is going well for you.
Thanks, honey, I appreciate it. One of the little pullets got loose when Jennifer was loading up yesterday. AND she took all the new borns. I was walking to the kitchen 30 minutes later and AJ said "I hear chirping" It was two of the non hatched eggs that I was going to toss. Both hatched last night. I think maybe the White Rock (Blosl) over the Coronation Sussex. I was thinking of keeping the 3 of them but, you know, Jenny in Vancouver wants me to come and visit for several months instead of weeks. So I'm taking them to Jennifer tomorrow.
I'm not going anywhere. Still want to hear about my buddies and their babies.

I don't know if it matters to your what brand of canning jar you use. But all the golden harvest jars we've had have been just as good as the Kerr and Ball brand. As far as canning goes anyway. They have good prices at dollar general and at Fred's discount stores. Fred's has Ball jars too.
