"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

:welcome      Melissa, great to have you.   I've been missing in action for a while.   I've been making the decision to get rid of my chickens or most for a while.  I think I'll get more after I get back from Vancouver Wa to visit my daughter in Sept.  Traded two of my coops for having my handyman to build me two 4 x 8 garden beds  24" tall.   I'll put strawbales in it for a while and then putting in soil.  Another fellow bought my XW white rock rooster and 8 hens.     He came back and got my big coop today.   I have my new coop still and will have a place for new ones later.  The 21 babies (almost 3 wks old) will be given to Jipus   Jennifer in Minden.   Along with the new hatchlings (9) in the incubator.  She's coming after them today.  She'll get the Blosl rooster and 2 XW hens for a start.   She really raises roosters to process and sell so this is what she needs.   I've never had anyone come to my place that didn't love the whites.

Topgun,  so totally jealous of your garden.   I'm getting such a late start this year but the year in weather seems to be late also.  Still very spring like.

Pam, I'm still coming on here even if I give my chicken raising a break for now.  Great friends on here.    I love all you folks.   :love

You have been missed hope you are keeping enough to have fresh eggs. Tell Jennifer hello and I miss her here. Glad to hear you will keep in touch. Pam

Pam it sounds like your poor friend has the go around with those little things. You gotta know how i just wonder about stuff. I totally believe the cannibalism thing too and it has to b harsh to see. I wouldnt be trying to keep very many at all, espcially til i find out how they taste, but theyre small and redily avalible so i keep wondering... I wondered about chickens for Years before i did this lol

LindaB its very nice to meet you! I have found some very kind people here who are willing to help, and i appreciate it. Im not very self confident and i can never learn enough. Congrats on some nice trades, i inherited a green thumb and i swear idk anything about how to use it until im in a garden. Then its like magic. Its still very spring like and ive only Just repotted some of mine. Ive got a new fertilizer so i had to try it lol

Just got back in the house after Jennifer left with all her babies and rooster and hens. I told her I had mentioned that she was getting the chickens. Maybe she'll check in. She's busy with stuff right now. Gardening, etc . I have no chickens on the place other than a Black Australorp that got away. Jennifer was going to try and catch it. BYC has been my go to place for a year and a half. I'm not going anywhere. I will live vicariously through y'all until I get more in late Sept.

When you get some more you may want to give the Bieles a try. They've really grown on me. You'd also have a close source

if you wanted them. They'd be cheap for you
