Oh yea, do you know what breeds are in the Biele make-up. I'm wondering what's causing the combs on some of these birds to have extra growths on them similar to your cocks comb. I wonder if that can be bred out of them. I'm seeing it on the hens also. Any thoughts?

Just dropping in. Summer camp has started! The baby polish are doing great. I've got two splash cochin cockerels and two speckled sussex cockerels I need to get rid of. And those EE/OE juvies are eating me out of house and home! A month ago I was certain they were all roos. Last week I felt optimistic about having about 8 pullets. But today I'm back to seeing all roos. They're right at 9 weeks old and I'm worked up over red combs.

My broody marans. Hoping the second brood goes better than the first.

My first broody sussex! She slept on the nest last night, but was off it this morning. This is my first time being home since 10 this morning, so I don't know how the rest of the day went. But she's on the nest now, so I moved her to the broody suite with the marans. Hope she sticks! She's on the nest that the marans abandoned. If she sticks then I'll give her fresh eggs.

What I have read suggests that the breeds used included malines, New Hampshire, welsummer, Rhode Island Red, amrock and Wyandotte. There may have also been other breeds.

Yea I know. I don't mind them maturing later than others. Don't know what I'm gonna do with all the **** eggs anyway. I can't eat'em all.

I'm getting ready to butcher the Cornish X I have. They are at 12 weeks now. The males are huge ........ 

I butchered more of my sister's extra cockerels on Saturday. Hard to beat free chickens.  I told her to keep hatching
Some of her birds must have silkie in them because there were a couple with very dark, almost black skin.
One of the CX looked to be going down hill on me so I did him also. The carcass was huge. Wish I had some scales to see what they weigh.

I get some pics in the next day or two.

I have no idea none of my hens have it. I think it inhances the cock. Thats just my opinion. Pam

I would add legbars too the crewl colored roos look exactly like Biefelders except the Biefelders are bigger. Pam

Had a nice rainbow over the chickens Sunday. One of the brightest I've seen in a while.

Got all the nesting boxes built for the new coop. Here are a couple of them painted. My little one is picking all the colors and helping me paint so it should be a bright and happy place for our crew!
