"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Yea I know. I don't mind them maturing later than others. Don't know what I'm gonna do with all the **** eggs anyway. I can't eat'em all.

I'll try to take note on which strain is attempting to breed. Thank you. :)

I'm getting ready to butcher the Cornish X I have. They are at 12 weeks now. The males are huge  ........ :D

I butchered more of my sister's extra cockerels on Saturday. Hard to beat free chickens. :)  I told her to keep hatching :lau
Some of her birds must have silkie in them because there were a couple with very dark, almost black skin.
One of the CX looked to be going down hill on me so I did him also. The carcass was huge. Wish I had some scales to see what they weigh.

I get some pics in the next day or two.  :)

If I really think I'm going to have too many eggs sitting around I scramble them up and feed them back to the chickens. They love it. I mix in anything they they might like if I have it.

Had a nice rainbow over the chickens Sunday. One of the brightest I've seen in a while.

Got all the nesting boxes built for the new coop. Here are a couple of them painted. My little one is picking all the colors and helping me paint so it should be a bright and happy place for our crew!

So this babe most certainly looks like a mottled. But the little turd is a boy :( I'm still hatching from this momma trying to get some pullets that are mottled just so I can see how they grow out. I now have 4 broody hens lined up in the nest boxes!!!!!

I can't wait to grow the ones out from green fire to see if any have it. Pam

Pam if there was a breed standard for Bieles would this be a negative trait to have do you think? Now that my birds are older I'm seeing the ones I think would be best to breed and am considering this a negative trait to have. Maybe I have it wrong to look at this trait as a neg.
