I'm with Kuntrygirl on this one. My turkeys are right up close to the top of my favorites list. Right now I have a broody turkey hen and every day I reach under her and take her eggs. She hisses but never offers to attack unlike some of my nasty broody chicken hens. One of our Beltsville Toms did progressively get fairly aggressive, so last weekend he was sent to freezer camp.
We like them so much that we have expanded from one breed to three. I have some Narragansett poults in the brooders right now and they are SO friendly that they fly out and roost on my shoulder when I feed them every morning. They are by far the most curious creatures on the property other than my goat Hershey: Nothing gets past her!
However, I also adore my geese. They are pretty easy going and all trained to go into their own stalls at night. Aside from one flapping I got from a male last year (I picked up one of HIS goslings and didn't think to look where he was at first), the only other time I've had an issue with one was when moving a broody goose a few weeks back. She didn't resist being picked up and was even letting me pet her as we walked. However, she must have decided I needed taught a lesson so whipped her head around and bit the heck out of the end of my nose. OUCH. I looked like Rudolf for a week! Otherwise, I can reach right under any of the ladies and take eggs and pick up and move whatever male I want without any issues.
