"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I LOVE my turkeys. They are the one of the favorite birds in the yard, next to the peas. They have so much personality and are so tame and SO NOSEY!!!!!

I'm with Kuntrygirl on this one. My turkeys are right up close to the top of my favorites list. Right now I have a broody turkey hen and every day I reach under her and take her eggs. She hisses but never offers to attack unlike some of my nasty broody chicken hens. One of our Beltsville Toms did progressively get fairly aggressive, so last weekend he was sent to freezer camp.

We like them so much that we have expanded from one breed to three. I have some Narragansett poults in the brooders right now and they are SO friendly that they fly out and roost on my shoulder when I feed them every morning. They are by far the most curious creatures on the property other than my goat Hershey: Nothing gets past her!

However, I also adore my geese. They are pretty easy going and all trained to go into their own stalls at night. Aside from one flapping I got from a male last year (I picked up one of HIS goslings and didn't think to look where he was at first), the only other time I've had an issue with one was when moving a broody goose a few weeks back. She didn't resist being picked up and was even letting me pet her as we walked. However, she must have decided I needed taught a lesson so whipped her head around and bit the heck out of the end of my nose. OUCH. I looked like Rudolf for a week! Otherwise, I can reach right under any of the ladies and take eggs and pick up and move whatever male I want without any issues.

Thanks. To be honest, I'm excited about having to prepare bottles of milk and feeding it. I have been having fun watching that little buggar suck on a bottle. It looks weird opening up the fridge and seeing bottles full of milk.

AWWWWWWW! Maybe that's what I should do now that my grandchildren are 15 and 9 years old, I loved feeding them bottles, but no more babies to feed for a long time. I really like feeding babies, too.

Lucky you. Mine will slap the crap out of you if you get too close to them. I don't mess with them. I try to not even look at them. :/

"slap???"  How do they do that???:idunno

Let me know when you want to come and visit and I will let you find out. Lol

They extend their wing and commence to slapping the mess out of you with it. Lol

I felt the same way about Turkeys & their bold bumpy heads lol Then a friend asked me to keep my eyes open for a bronze tom for her to put with her hen. I found 1 for her & had to keep it for a few days till we meet up at the I-12 swap. Well I started playing with Jake he would come when you called him & he was just so beautiful when the sun would shine on his feathers. YES I now have a baby turkey Golden Palm I purchased at the next I-12 swap, When I find out if it's a hen or tom I will get the other one so I will have a pair. I have wild turkeys on my property I have seen them and if I go outside early in the morning I can hear them calling each other "music"

ChickenMess gave my sweet baby roo a home (it was great to meet you!) and ssterling is giving me another girl today about the same age as my baby girl (she was very vocal and sad without her friend yesterday and last night). So, things are switching around well. Just need to switch my bunnies and I will be set for a while.
