Omg 4 new babies for me, 1st time with itty bitty babies, I'm so egg-cited! Wheaton/blue Wheaton ameraucanas. Maaaaan I hope I get at least one pullet lol my head hurts from the days of reading I've been doing lol but these sweet lil things are just too cute.

We spent the day on the road, hubby finally caught chicken fever and decided he wanted Seramas so we drove to vacherie and picked some up from jerry schexnayder. So he has his midget chickens like he calls them lol. This heat is getting ridiculous I agree. I'm seriously thinking about weather proofing the garage and putting them all in there. I cant walk out for 5 minutes without breaking into a sweat couldn't imagine adding feathers to the wardrobe.

It was HOT HOT HOT this weekend. I will start freezing gallons of water and placing in the chicken house, stalls and under the raised coops. I am so afraid for my animals. It was too hot for ME to be out, so I know they are catching it. I have placed the pools in the shade. Between the skeeters and heat, I don't know what I'm going to do.

Yeah, I started the frozen bottles and fan a few days ago. It's so hot.

I'm doing frozen jugs in the nest area for laying- they love it. I hose down the coop, wrapped the run in a cloth for shade that I hose down in the heat to help...I'm scared for the birds too! Especially come August

I have a mister system. I thought I would try it in the chicken yard away from their food and see if they use it.

Well I have been doing exactly that. BUT we still have are having flies. I'm blaming it on the meat chickens we had. I have never had them as bad as this year. I put out 2 of those bag traps with the water and attractant about a week ago. Those bags were getting really smelly yesterday and today. So I bagged them this afternoon and put out a fresh batch of fly tapes. I wonder if those bags were actually attracting them because they were so stinky??? Anyway it smells better out there at least and I am going to put down more/fresh DE tomorrow.

While working on the Egg Hut this evening I got these pics while the kids were playing with the chickens. This silly Houdan was just letting herself be held just like a baby. ~~~Rock-a-Bye-Tweety~~~




My eldest let the bunny have some playtime in the tall grass. The camera gave him red eyes! LOL! Then afterwards he was chilling out relaxing in my girls arms. He is such a sweet bunny.





My sister is scared to death of rabbits. Strange to me but I usually let her be. But when I realized this photo had come out with red eyes I couldn't help myself. I posted it on my fb and tagged my sis. Naughty I know, but funny non the less. She loves me dearly so I will be forgiven

We got the big door done on the Egg Hut earlier this evening. Yay! One more to check of the to do list.
