I'm in trouble now. I think I need an air conditioned metal building built for storing wine AND canning AND my extra freezer.

Be careful...if you make that request, you just might end up living in there too!

The one I have was given to me by my MIL. It was just sitting in storage for many years. Its a PRESTO. I just had to get a new seal at the hardware store. I hear that the very best is an All Americans. It doesnt even have to use a seal and lasts free generations if you take care of it. I love the 2 Canning Granny pages on fb. They are so helpful! And nobody there thinks your weird for putting your own food in jars ;)

Sounds neat!  I'll be going to Facebook now to look them up.  I just bought a magazine at Sams about canning your own food...Like I need one more thing to catch my attention.  Maybe if I stop sleeping I'll find the time to do more things.

Sleep? What's that? :lau

The seals will last forever if they are stored correctly. When I am done canning for the year I rub a little bit of coconut oil on the seal and store. Just wash before use.

Hey guys, long time no see huh?
I just wanted to pop in and tell the "new" members that I'm sorry for not adding your name to the list! I haven't been able to edit it since last year. You can't edit the older posts or something. I have so many messages in my inbox right now and it's kind of overwhelming.
And as someone who's starting college (I'm working on getting a degree in Archaeology)...I have no more time. So I apologize for any inconvenience!

I always recommended this site when I did canning workshops -- it's great info & step-by-step pics & instructions. Very nice information. It tells you how much produce you need to get how much juice, how many jars it will produce, all of that. It has excellent links to other sites for supplies & information.

Well now I have THREE broodies! What is WRONG w/these silly old hens? The most recent one isn't old, actually, it's one of the lavendar Ameracaunas I got from LaMike. And she won't sit on the nest by herself - she is crowded in with the black Ameracauna. Both of them growl & peck if I go anywhere near them so I'm leaving them alone, mashed in there together. I think they've lost what little minds they had to start with!

good to 'see' you drop by! Congrats on the college ambitions! Are you still working with horses?

An outdoor kitchen would be my dream.....complete with walk-in freezer & storage space.

And reinforced so we could use it for a storm shelter if we needed to. Built out of cinder blocks or something concrete like that.

My Mom remembers in the Mississippi Delta where she grew up, they used the storm cellar for storing all the preserves - it was underground.

Hey peeps, anyone lose a great Pyrenees male? Less than a year old no chip, last chance posting hoping his family sees him found on the 25th near 27 off rt. 66. He's being given away.
