"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/436636/neem-oil-for-mites/30

I spotted a few lice on some of my chickens. Not a lot, glad for that. I can't do the standing in a cloud of toxic dust thing. And I happen to have pure neem oil that is going to go into some soap for my doggies. I haven't decided if I am going to bathe the chickens or just mix up some drops to put on them. Decisions, decisions. I will clean and spray everything down as well.

It will be easy to document the effectiveness of this method on the white chickens!

Everyone, go take a look:

www.treasury.state.la.us Once you are on the site, look on left side of page and click "unclaimed property"

Type in variations of your info and GOOD LUCK!!! Hopefully someone will find some money. I didn't, but made a call to two neighbors who did!

I actually DID find several thousand $$ there.
Years ago, my folks got a phone call one night from a cousin in Baton Rouge. Their local TV would run names across the bottom of the news screen from Unclaimed Property. He saw my name – didn’t know my married name so called them. I took off work & drove to BR & come to find out, years ago when my uncle & Dad had the racehorse track, a man owed them some $$ & paid them in Goodyear stock. Dad put it in my name & forgot about it.
That was when I was 10 years old. Over the years, Goodyear split & the stock grew in value. So it ended up being a nice little surprise! “Found money” really does happen!

I like to use the vacuum type bags, but they are more expensive than the zippered freezer ones and I am cheap, OOOH, I mean FRUGILE ! LOL But I have in a pinch for meat I was planning to use very soon, froze things in doubled up recycled bread bags.
I use Ziploc freezer bags myself. I get them cheap and in bulk from Sam's Club once a year. I would never pay anyone elses price for those things. My uncle only uses butcher paper and it drives me nuts because he will put something in my freezer not labeled (except year) and on the wrong shelf. Yes, I separate the shelves by animal and there should never be paper wrapped anything on the turkey shelf as no one that has access to it raises or hunts turkey.

I thought I was the only one who took enough time to separate and assign different shelves to different types of animals! I also have different sections in the chest freezer for different meats and the veggies go into the trays at the top. The bottom of the 6'freezer has dividers that are adjustable, so rotating food id easier too. I was keeping a inventory list on each door, but when I got the flu and was in bed, it got lost. Hubby did some wash and seams to have grabbed the "taped on" list up with the clothes he was sorting to load and it got washed! Too hot now and freezer too full to unpack and rearrange everything to make a new list, but as soon as winter gives us a 30 degree morning, I will be cleaning it out and refilling. I also recycle my washed milk jugs and 2 liter soft drink bottles and freeze water to use when I start processing, the bottles come out and go into the ice chests with the processed meat for the 3 days, adding more every day of course, and then the meat takes the place of the missing bottles. I also use the 2 liter ice bottles in my rabbit cages during the summer heat, and as ice water for them to drink to cool off. A few frozen water milk jugs, in front of a fan, is almost like air conditioning! When the power goes out, we have generators to run all the essentials in the house, but neighbors are not so fortunate, so these big blocks of solid ice are very appreciated for their ice chests. Block ice lasts a lot longer than cubes, so I freeze a lot more blocks than cubes. I am a recycling nut, until there is nothing else something can be used for, only then is it burned or tossed in the garbage. Since chickens can and will eat anything, they also clean up whatever food the dogs and cats leave. No food wasted around here!

Good luck, Celie. I can feel it.

If we win you can have our 5 acres in the country! BTW, did you notice the for sale sign right after the S turn last time you were here? It is on the right, a block before our house. 10 acres, I think, and just land. It was a crawfish farm, but they did not dig it deep enough and the birds, like egrets ate the crawfish, then the old man died and his kids didn't want to farm. The property needs a lot of fill, but is someone wanted to do some crawfish or fish farming, they could use what is dug for fill. Just a thought and I would be glad to have you for a neighbor, Linda. Just think, since it is zoned as AG, you could have all the chickens you wanted!!!! hehehe, yes, I am an enabler! You could even get that little lamb from Julie !

Every body must be out to lunch right now? I would like to ask the people who sell their eggs, how they fit all those eggs into their refrigerator? mine is always packed! Do ya'll have a second one just for eggs? I was thinking about getting a second one.

Sorry to hear about the lice. As for the dog no gsd rescue in your area. One did tell me the rescue in Alexandria or there animal assistance league would help rescue the dog. The number for the rescue is 3184731229 I hope they help. Pam
