"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Hi Everyone!!!

so far I've been to the farmers market . Those were plain, beet, hot wing, one other flavor I Can't remember. Next day went to huge southern craft guild art show. Lots of beautiful things . Today was

overcast so we went to town and flea market. They have a lot of old mason jars some clear with clear glass lids. Some say atlas, some Ball strong mason. some were blue glass with old metal lids. I like the ones with bubbles in the glass. They had Half gallon, pints,& quart sizes. I'm telling you this because I think some of you were collecting them. If any one is interested I'll get them for you. When I was looking at them a older gentlemen came and was looking at the bottoms. I asked him what the numbers on the bottom meant. He said ball made them in a series !-13 and the ones with 13 are worth 35 to 50 dollars. He said they were used by moonshiners and were broken so they are rare. So go check your jars!!! they cost from 8.50 to 19.99.

Then we went to town square and I found mason jars that had added solar panels to the old lid an made into garden lights. I was able to just buy the lid for the jar I bought.

I'm hoping tomorrow is sunny so I can go on the parkway and take pictures. Its so beautiful here. Have a great weekend.

What a dream getaway. I am so jealous of your wonderful adventures. That is my kinda outing. I would probably lose my mind if I saw all of the things that you are seeing. Sounds like you hit the jackpot. Have fun!!!!

I have a question! I would like to know what breed of chickens everyone is raising? EVERYONE IN LOUISIANA. I have EEs, Wheaten and Blue Wheaten Ameraucana, and I have Wheaten and Gold Duckwing Sulmtalers ordered for mid November. Thanks Eric

I don't have any special breeds over here. I have chickens that are great egg layers because I have an egg business. I have RIRs, New Hampshire Reds, Barred Rocks, Buff Orpingtons and about 10 other breeds. However, I got 50 free chicks back in May and I've noticed that I have some other breeds that I never had before, so that's good.

Learn something new every day! I just learned guineas can hybrid with chickens and even peafowl. How crazy weird! :ep

That would be interesting.  I think I'd like to see that.  Kuntrygirl, get working on it?

Im on it. Now you know that I'm crazy enough to try that right? Lol

Okay Peeps, I have a $13  -- yes, you read that correctly - THIRTEEN DOLLAR organic, all natural chicken from Kroger's resting in the fridge. Will roast it tomorrow & report on a "taste testing".
It better taste GREAT - because I could've bought a couple of nice steaks for that amount! But I truly do want to see if "all - natural" does taste different than plain ol' chicken.

been cool damp& clammy all day here but the sun just came out so tomorrow should be magnificent!

I went to five - FIVE! places in Alexandria looking for a replacement for my crockpot which bit the dust -- finally ordered one online at Amazon.com exactly the size I wanted & programmable & free shipping. This wasn't about getting a bargain; I'm very picky w/my appliances. It was $26.00 & I'm OK w/that. I couldn't believe all the Christmas stuff out already. I'm going to hide out here in the country until after the 1st of the year. I want to enjoy the holidays, not rush them.

Have a good rest of the weekend!

$13.00????? Wow!!! Let us know if there is a difference in the taste.

Beautiful items in the pic. Looks pricey but definitely worth every penny. Talented work.

BTW, if you buy 9 lbs of onions because they were on sale.........and you decide to prep the all and press them ALL through the chopper then vac seal them for the freezer.  It helps to have a fan and an exhaust fan, open doors and windows, two kids (who kept taking "breaks" to run to the door for a breather) and paper towel to dab your eyes.  Wow!  That was crazy! :sick    But we made it!!!  LOL!

:yuckyuck

:lau :lau :lau :lau :lau

I would have loved to see that.

As someone referenced days ago about a newspaper article/heading. I can see it now, "Opelousas woman killed by hybrid bird (lab experiment)". :hide
