Morning! Today I'm thankful for non drowsy Dramamine. Bleck! Its helping me get through this flare up. I can't for the life of new figure out what I ate to make me sick. Hubby and I are working on the greenhouse today. I'm very excited to get it closed in!!!

:barnie  Guys with peacocks I need help!!! Over the last few days bald patches started appearing on my peas necks, and I was at first really confounded, I don't have parasites or anything but I know the problem now!!!! The turkeys are plucking their necks bald! And the peas are just letting them! They have been together since hatching, and it doesn't even seem malicious. They just layed next to each other on the coop roof and Pat started to pluck like he was grooming or something. The pea  almost seemed happy even.  What's going on?! They free range together in a several acre pen. :th

What do I do? I love both my peas and my turkeys. :he

Turtle neck sweaters? :hide

My females pluck at the toms and I don't know why. I feed at 26% protein game bird feed, so I know it's not the protein. Maybe their have an infatuation/obsession with pea feathers? :hide

Feathers are high in protein and if the turkeys are not getting enough protein in their feed, they will pluck feathers. Chickens will do this too.

Interesting. I am due for a feed run today. I will try and find something with more protein in it then and see. I really hope its that easy of a fix. Thank you.

What are you feeding them now and how much protein.? I feed a 26% protein game bird feed.

Good Morning Louisiana La-yers! And what a nice cool morning it is. I have been loving this weather. Cool nights so lots of fresh air with no A/C and very mild days, so it is invigorating working outside and no sunburn!!! Yeah:weee
“Free” air conditioning is nice! I had to break down

I don't like cold weather but I do love to sleep under the covers in cold weather. I have to keep the house kinda cold because of all of the wine making. :hide

For what it’s worth, I feed my peas 28% protein gamebird crumbles.

Terri, are you still feeding Petrus feed? Is Petrus feed 26% protein or 28% protein? My Gamebird feed (pellets and crumble) from Petrus says 26% protein. I picked up a 30 bags on Saturday from Petrus.

DH had to get our feed at TSC last time and the best protein level was only 22% I think. I'm not sure. The feed gets poured into a bin and the bad tossed so I can't recheck. It was a flock raiser. They normally get 28%. So it is possible that the lower protein is the issue. I really hope so. They aren't eating each others feathers, or even looking twice at chickens.
