"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

WOW! Sooooooooo, what lesson was he to learn from this?
If he did not listen and got suspended in school, what makes you think he will listen to her about this? If I know teenagers, he will be at Grandma's before she is around the corner. When mine were that age, they weren't allowed outside on Saturday mornings, until their rooms were cleaned and they considered NOT going outside a punishment! Kids will act like they have it horrible at home if they are forced to sit by the table until they ate just some of their veggies! Don't believe everything you read and only half of what you think you see!

It's been a few months since I last ran. And now with the time change, I won't be able to run on the road or ride my bike. So, I'm on my elliptical now. In January, my old gym will be having their annual New Year's Eve special and I think I will join to take the cycling classes. I love to cycle.

Omg omg omg. I did day 1 on the app today. I love the app. I have over 100 of my favorite songs downloaded to my phone and I add regularly. I can play my music and simultaneously run the app. It tells me when to run and when to walk, encourages me, love the graphics and it tells you when to do it again and shows progress. This was made for me. I ran today for the first time in 30 years and I really could do it. It assumes you are out of shape and can't do much. And it says if it is possible to run slower, you are running too fast. Haha. Love that. The treadmill was set a good bit slower than I normally walk on it and bec I walk so fast on it normally, this actually didn't feel stressful, and you only do a very slow run for no more than 1 minute at a time. The app was only $2.99. Of course, check with me later when it demands more from me. I might just stay at day one for a nice little 30 minute workout. Lol. I am so amazed. I did it. Woohoo!!

YEA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm glad that you like it !!!!!!1 :celebrate :weee :ya

I think I have a tear coming from my eye for you. I am so happy for you. :hit

In a few months, you will look up and you will be running miles. Take it from me. I'm a believer. Just do what you can. PLEASE keep me posted. I am so happy !!!!!!!!! :highfive:

Will someone explain to me how this is a good idea.  A 13yr old boy gets suspended from school.  So his mom locks him outside on this cold morning.  Light jacket and shorts.  Then leaves for the day.  That's part of his punishment.  She told him the police can't come in the backyard and NOT to go to his grandmas down the street.  :th   And I thought it was bad this summer when this lady did stuff like this.

What happened to making them work hard around the house when they got in trouble? My dad used to give me something harder than the last to do every time I got in trouble. It started with shoveling poo and ended with building an addition to the house. I learned a lot while in trouble and had a few sore mussels to show for the work.

A parent could always send them to my house to work in the chicken yard. ;)

Same thing I thought of too I'd be at Grandmas lickty split, me, and usually the reprocusions from that move weren't/or wouldn't be all that bad either Gma and esp Grandaddy most everbody walked the chalk line around them even the parents LOL no not a good punishment for sure he should have to stay inside an do his dammed schoolwork or something of the likes that he would have been missing today at school, that would have killed me I hated homework terribly bad myself.

THIS is what works and needs to be implemented. Work. **** Hard work.
If we got in trouble at grandmas, whose home was perfectly clean :/ we would have to go "paint the fence" - a 50ft wood fence grandpa made with cinderblocks and recycled boards. Double sided and a can of whatever free paint her could find or grandma's whitewash and a painting we had to do. Ug.
But as we grew outta the trouble (getting caught lol) stages that same fence was used to paint for $$. Money. $5-$10 could be earned in a weekend for the kids who took initiatives and painted the fence lol
Later all 9 grandkids pitched in to paint their home :)
It worked :)

When my nieces and nephews USE to get in "trouble", my brothers and sisters would send them to my house for the weekend and boot camp would begin. I had a list of chores for them to do. Scrubbing the chicken coop with a toothbrush was one of the chores. I'm happy to say they have not had to return to the Farm Boot Camp because they knew the consequences if they got in trouble. ;)

Good morning. It is a great morning. Inside temps were 64 degrees. NICE. I didn't bother turning on the heater. I just bundled up with a sweater inside. No need wasting heat to warm up. Duck and sausage gumbo sounds great! :drool I'm hoping to have a quiet Thanksgiving and I'm hoping that my brothers and sisters don't call me and ask me to go their house for Thanksgiving. I just want to lay in bed and watch the Lifetime, Snapped and Oxygen channels with no interruptions. I will be off Thursday and Friday and I want to enjoy my LONG weekend. As far as menu, I think I want turkey soup with a lots of vegetables. Your menu sounds delicious. :drool I was finally able to get my pumpkin pies baked. I will most likely freeze a couple of them and give the rest away. I have no more room in the freezer.
Now by staying in bed, how are you going to manage getting 3 fire pits from Wally World on black Friday? Do you have a personal shopper, stashed somewhere? Do you pluck or skin your ducks? I love cooking duck fat, but hear it is also very healthy in a soap, with the antioxidants and omega 3, being absorbed right through the skin ! I might need to raise more ducks again, just for the fat! No wonder ducks sell so fast! :/
Whoops, you are so right. You know I almost forgot that. Man, I must be delusional. Thanks for the reminder. The first time with ducks we plucked. After plucking about 3 ducks, the next 30 ducks we skinned. I'm a fast learner. Crazy question........ How do you get the duck fat? Whatever is drained in the pan is what you use?

These people do this to this boy........often I guess is the word. There are days in the summer when everyone is in the house and he is put out. I have seen him stand at the window and ask if he can come in now. He mows the yard. He rakes the yard. He does trash. I never see him with other kids. I know school is hard for him an he has been held back and suspended before. You NEVER know what is going on behind closed doors. So I don't want to be too quick to judge. But he is always sweet and happy when they let his sister come out and play in the yard with him and he as never been rude to us. Always polite, if broody and seemingly depressed. But I do have personal experience with expert liars. But watching and seeing the parents pattern of behavior is fact, not asking the kid. I didn't know if it was actually against the law, to leave a kid in the yard. I think it terrible! Immoral and cruel. After I asked the boy some questions he seemed surprised that I would act shocked at what they had done. He did say he had thought about going to the police dept because its close. After he thought about it for a few minutes he came and told me that he was going. He walked since it is close.

The catch is that I don't STAY outside for as long as he does. So I can't say that its been 3hrs or whatever that he has been outside on any given date. Except for one day when they LEFT. We were working outside and he sat back of the yard for hours, doing nothing but being depressed. Not talking to anyone. It was a warm day, but I was still so sad for him. I can always tell if he has been put out by just his body language. I don't know how this kid will ever know how to act like a normal adult.

I only disagree slightly. What he'll learn is that normal parenting includes abuse, that behavior, real or imagined, justifies hurting a child. Abusive parents usually results in their children growing up to be abusive even though they hated the abuse (joyfully there are exceptions). Like we have said before that there is a place in hell for those people.
YESSSS!!! A VERY SPECIAL PLACE IN HELL!!!!!

We roast a turkey in a big green egg. I make everything from scratch. Corn bread dressing with some dried fruit and chestnuts added. sweet potato casserole I bake all the sweet potatoes mash add grade b maple syrup some O J 2 eggs cinnamon and nutmeg. I top it with a crumble topping. Once I had pralines that I crushed and used for the topping that was good too. Roasted brussel sprouts with pancetta and parmesan. Green bean casserole made with fresh green beans, mushrooms etc. I make dinner roles or bread. Ron has to have pumpkin pie every year. I'll make red velvet cake or a dessert called cherries berries on a cloud. Now I just made myself hungry. Pam:lol:
You have a big green egg?!?!?!!!!!
