"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Thank you for link. It's very helpful I'm still learning so all help is greatly appreciated.
He's a sweetie and was given to me so I plan to keep him, I'm very interested to see how he continues too feather out and grow. I'm disappointed he's not what I was hoping he would be but I will keep him and find an Ameracauna Rooster I can put with hen.

What would his color be considered?
Its not actually a color or pattern just a random mix cropping out. EE genetics are not too stable in the colors dept. mostly. Americaunas have color varieties that are true (if bred properly that is).

Thank you for the Ovation.. :)

Ok. Big talker. I actually had never done the deed on a living creature except snakes, which, for me don't count. (Sorry to snake lovers, I just am terrified of all snakes). Anyway as you know I caught my second possum and my grandson is at the hunting camp. I wanted that possum dead so I could reset the trap. My daughter said I could go into the woods behind her house and do the deed where my grandson did it yesterday. I told my mom we were going to find out if I am all talk or not. She said to wait for my grandson to come back, but I said no, I want to know if I can kill a dirty evil chicken killer or not. Well, I am no longer all talk. I did the deed. It looked at me and hissed and showed those teeth and I said "bye bye chicken killer" and that was that. I wonder if this thread is having an effect on me? Hummmmmm

I have always believed I could kill an intruder. So I think it is the protection instinct. Protect myself, my family, my pets and my critters.

:thumbsup it a question people need to ask. Guns/weapons are dangerous is unsteady hands. If there is the day you need to PROTECT, go to that quite place, calm your mind and heart, distance yourself from fear and passion, then your seances will be free, your aim true, and most important you will not make a terrible mistake. It is freeing to know yourself and what you can do when you need to do it.

I learned this when I was in the Army in '76. And came face to face with situations twice after I left the army. Both times I had the calm to think, assurance I WILL fallow thru without hesitation, and I did the right thing in each situation. The first time home invasion, they left quickly because they saw I was armed, the second my body language along with luck, they left never knowing I was armed. If they had known it may have had a different outcome.

Ok thank you. I will defiantly be way more careful when I try again next time. Yes I have noticed how "sensitive" people can be when you call it wrong. I mainly post here , and just read in the other threads, the conversations on here are all very accepting and welcoming I feel more comfortable with being wrong with y'all.

Yeah, it can be a very touchy subject for those who breed them because the confusion is so common. Most have lost their patience over the matter and snap quickly. There are also a fair number who refuse to believe that their birds are not accepted purebred Ameraucanas, and those are the most irritating. Thank you for not losing your head over being told otherwise. I have literally gotten into arguments over MY birds being EE's. That is pretty enraging when someone tells you that you are wrong about your own birds with no real knowledge on the subject. Unfortunately, owning chickens and having experience does not always make someone not a complete dumb-donkey. One person was adamant that I had Ameraucanas, not EE's because "they have owned them for 30 years" and " AMERAUCANAS ARE THE ONLY BREED WITH BEARDS AND CHEEKS PUFFS." I kid you not. A self proclaimed "expert" was unaware of the existence of all of the other bearded and muffed breeds of chicken and pretty much telling me I was an inexperienced idiot who didn't even know my own chickens.

You mean all those barnyard mixes that are for sale are true breed because they have beards or puffy cheeks???? Guess that's how that one lady got the idea for designer chicks...

oh, please, I am not violent. I have a hard time processing my own chickens, I take life very seriously and life as a gift from God. No animal should suffer, we must care for and be loving stewards of all that is given to us. This is why I could never be a animal hoarder. If I can not afford a vet, feed and house my animals I just will not have them. How most farm animals are treated is cruel. The American way of life, separated from our foods keeps the cruelty going on. WE, at BYC, know better, and I love that about the members of BYC.

We'll give each other a hard time, but truly enjoy each other. I don't think we take ourselves too seriously either. It's not fun or helpful when people get their panties in a twist easily. I think we're a fun group. Of course I'm NOT biased.

Very pretty girl's! I love your white hen! So clean!

Also EEs I believe, the white one may be an ameraucana possibly.

Yellow skin (on the bottoms of feet) indicate EE. Ameraucanas have white skin.

I can't see the comb of the white one clear enough on my phone. Ameraucana have pea combs.
EE combs can vary greatly depending on genes.

Are they laying? EEs lay various shades depending on genes and ameraucanas lay only blue eggs.

A lot of hatcheries sell EEs as ameraucana. Then people buy from their trusted source of chicks and breed them and sell them as ameraucana.

On my hunt for blue egg layers I ended up with EEs myself. After a lot of research , time wasted and money (still wanted my blue eggs and my EEs weren't green egg layers lol) I now know a few quick tips when looking at the EEs people have been selling as ameraucana. Most people aren't aware because they were told so buy someone else (hatchery). It's not often done maliciously I don't think.

I got my two from someone who was on this thread so I know if they were EE's it would have been an accident bec she is the sweetest most honest person. I just checked the bottom of their feet , so with the beard, muffs, bead comb and white feet bottom I am sure they are Amercaunas. But I would have been just as happy if the were EE's. Like someone else said, I just want to call them what they are.

I have one of each. I love my blue egg, however my EE lays the prettiest BIG green egg. Lou's blue egg is on the smaller side. Both of them lay every day. It doesn't matter to me. I love both their egg colors. They are both hatchery, which is another "dirty word" to a lot of people.
