Bungglesmommy I was wondering if you have pea fowl?

I am interested in learning about peacocks. I have lived several places were I would hear then calling all hours of the day and most of all as the sun would bowed to the horizon. Never seen but heard. I really loved lessoning to them. We had a wild peacock in Brandon, 1 wild and willy peacock and several pea hens. My neighbor told me that ever so often there is a peacock hunt to trap them. But this one male they have never been able to catch. I guess the last trapping session was very successful, he said they thought they had all the hens and all the juveniles. He then said about the time I moved in a pea hen showed up. Half the people hated then the other half loved them. All the trapped peafowl were found a new home by the people that love them, so no harm to come to them by (I guess) the chief peacock hater.

Except no one is in between on pea fowl.... Love them or you hate them.

Yes, I've had peafowl since this spring. My avatar picture is one of mine. I got them as eggs from TerriLaChicks on this thread, and will probably get some more this spring. Mine aren't breeding age yet.

Seriously - where did you get him?

He is one of the babies that our broody hatched. His mom is a White Frizzle Cochin and Daddy is a Silkie.

And I love that ones feathered legs and feet! ^^^^^ This little sweet fluff is our favorite! We don't even care that it is a mixed breed. We have been going on the assumptions that it is a "HE" because of the color of the comb and his little waddles. He has more and more of the reddish color coming in between all of his feathers that are in already. I just cannot wait to see how he turns out. And it would be a great surprise if it was a hen. We call him Jazzie. He is super spunky and energetic. We all want to keep this sweet thing. Aren't his little feathers sticking straight up just the funniest looking?? Pattered feathers on his neck.....the new colored feathers coming in are much redder though. And a seriously fluffy little butt!
You should name him Curley.! Blood curdling crow...I've never heard one of those. Pam

Cute silkiness!!! Love the coloring & frizzly feathers!
Sad to be back at work – it was such a nice holiday break! Gee, it’s so cold & dreary outside here – I think it’s colder now than it was this morning….both of the pea boys were fanning yesterday, silly things – it’s too soon for that!
