"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I need dinner inspiration today. Don't feel that great, so I'm not hungry.......but have to feed the troops. What is on your table tonight?
Our version of Cajun Cabbage Creole is what we ate tonight!
Whole head of cabbage cut in like 2x2 squares, lightly steamed.
2 lbs of ground venison, cooked and drained.
1 can of diced tomatoes, juice and all.
1 can cheese soup
1 can of Ro-Tel
salt, pepper, and 1/3 cup of Tony's.

Eggs the half breeds started laying look like the size of small store eggs, but this weird one?! New EE started laying, but it seems her body paused a few times before letting it all the way out!
Oh, and yall had a nice weather day? Im jealous! It has been raining since last night...all day storms up here!

I just came back from the chiropractor . I gave him a bar of my soap for Christmas . He said he would like to buy it. I like to fell off my chair. When I started making soap I thought good soap cheaper for my family. Good gifts for friends and I enjoy making it. I like making the recipes for dry skin or sensitive skin etc.

Now almost everyone I gave soap to as a gift wants to buy some!! I guess now I have to figure out packaging and a price.

I have to thank lemon for inspiring me! If you want the fragrance oils that were giving to me let me know. I'm sticking with all natural essential oils. Or unscented which is just no sent added it smells like whatever oils I've used. Pam
That's cool that he likes your soap :) Just don't forget when selling soap that there are the USDA labeling laws to contend with. There is 1. Soap (with which you can make no claims whatsoever real or implied that the soap does anything but "clean") 2. Soap that is a cosmetic (where there are mild claims) and 3. Soap that is a drug (makes stronger claims that throws it into the drug category and thereby throws it under the FDA jurisdiction and is subject to their laws.)

I don't have any of my links on this computer I had to move to using a different one because old one has a battery issue. But there is absolutely everything that you need to know in the forums on www.soapmakingforum.com as well as a gaggle of super knowledgeable people that have been at it for years (some of them just make soap for fun though, so look to see like their post #s and if they have a soaping business or if they are a moderator). And I have rarely ran across anyone that wasn't nice to talk to over there. Lots of soap pics too

And who doesn't want to look at more pictures of soap? (ok, don't answer that! lol)

Welcome to the addiction

But it is perfection. (HP Neem for the dog) I hope the dog doesn't smell like that after his bath when I try it in a few weeks!

eta: There is also a book that has a complete description of the labeling specs. I will see if I can find the title.

I have Barred Rocks Lemon not quite ready to start up breeding and collecting eggs yet from them but can tell you when I do, I only have a Dark Cornish rooster nothing to breed him too and I don't know who to steer you to for those(rare) I will post up on here what all I will be breeding/hatching this year soon. I will start in Feb. (hope I have my new big 'bator" by then too) I know I will have New Hampshires, Rhode Island Reds Barred Rocks, and EEs all those  should be a plenty.  I do have other stuff here but low in numbers of breed stock so I will work on getting the numbers up on them first before offering any of them for sale. And too I always just have an abundance of reg. ol' chickens you know the kinds that just pop up or appear LOL

Jeff

Ok, thanks.  So do you breed your Dark Cornish to your Barred Rock Hens for meat for your freezer?  Actually we don't HAVE to get strictly the Cornish.  My husband is telling me though that he is wanting us to have a self sustaining type of flock that will supply meat and eggs .  Which I will love too.  But I just can't settle for scrawny birds for eating.  So maybe some combination of Cornish, Plymouth Rock, Orpinton.......there were a few other breeds we were discussing last night.  Our main problem is having a full size rooster here because of our close proximity to neighbors.  He found out about that vet that does the de crowing on roosters.......so if we were not moved by the time we got set up for letting some broodys hatch, or incubator hatch, he is thinking of getting a roo that would fit into his plan from that vet.  We think it would be great to get some nice heavy bird stock from someone in this state though, for the hens.   Especially if they were being bred towards being heavy for meat.

I don't see how I could ever give up all my production laying hens though.......so we will just have to have both! :D
( having IPad problems trying to catch up). I have a Barred Rock out of Good shepherd blood line. She is hug! I have had the same thought. Has bee frustrating, I can not have roosters and i do not have the space. I have to just have to be patient. I thought crossing the two, to speed up growth. I will be interested on hearing how it turns out and your crosses.

This is her next to my EE enjoying some squash. She is a cull, Desertmarcy is working on size and markings, her toes are crooked. She gives wonderful large eggs.

I hadn't.  But he said he had a few others he was going to show me. I will read up on them while I go sit at the most boring Doctors appointment EVER!!!!  2hrs of sitting, with smelly people yay!  :rant   Why is it that the people at this dr office don't bathe properly???? I will never understand.

Bring soap samples??? You could sell some and have a nicer wait next time... Just be glad you don't live in Texarkana. When I had to work there I tried really hard to be nice but after a while I just started spraying people with Lysol as they entered the door for work. People would come in for job interviews and when I told them hygiene was a really important part of the job they would say well I just took a shower last week. :sick That is truly the black hole of our country, I have lived and worked all over and that is the strangest, dirtiest, and dumbest area I have ever been in.

Do You get Garrison Keillor's hurry home companion on public radio. He is 200% Minnesotan. The people he talks about, hit to close to home for my mom. He often talkes about the Norwegian bachelor farmers, they bath 2 times a year wither they need it or not. That is also when they change their underclothes.

I was 12, the NBF was maybe 20 - 22, he wanted me to live with his mom in the summer to learn farming. When I turn 18 or 19 we would get married. Looking back it may have been a good deal for me. In the proposal he boosted he had a new 100 ga. Water heater....... In the barn for washing the cows. I could have insisted he use it also, why should the cows smell better then him.

You could smell him when he opened the truck door when he came over. :sick :th
