"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I have. They're sending me a kit to package for a lab. $25 fee, was told to freeze dead and quarantine survivors. So I have 16 on ice and 14 that are still eating/drinking quarantined to no access outdoors on wire (collecting a dropping sample too) lady thinks it was too many in too high if temps. She thinks fewer chicks should be shipped in summer months but Kimmy only had 3 or 4 shipped right? and she had total loss :( We ordered from different places too. Mine came from Purely poultry via a hatchery near them. So maybe summer shipping is a no go :( that's why they're on sale maybe, have to buy many to hope for a few? :(
Have 2 New batches arriving from Texas next week and Monday got a batch to see the quality of the chicks, so far so good. A lady picks them up at a hatchery and drives them back when she has business there.
Did you contact LSU to try and find out what they died from? Pam

I hope that's the reason. Kimmy also had a shipment last week and only one dead. So I will be very interested in the outcome. I'm glad the cost is less than I thought . Pam

All three chicks arrived dead.

Sorry to hear about your chicks. Were they shipped with a heat pad, or without?

I'm going to be trying your screen trick soon! Wondering what's best to sprout fast...bird seed is fast but I think contains a lot of millet. Thought I read millets not that great for them, not sure. Haven't gotten far on the project yet. I did collect 2 large bread trays so far, built out of plastic, easy to clean, looks like flattened milk crates. Flipping them over my fresh seeded garden protected my veggies while sprouting this year so I assume do the same in the chicken yard and move them along the fence, spiral in and they'll always have a few patches...if I can keep up lol.

I used the bird seed bec I knew it would sprout and there were no chemicals in it. I tried to find other but couldn't. Milo is listed first, then millet followed by wheat then sunflower seed, but it doesn't give percentages. So the green sprout of millet is bad for them? The first thing they do in the morning when they get out of their coops is go eat some greens. They had watermelon today, but I bought them some cantaloupes today for the worming effect. I don't think they have worms, but just in case. BTW, how can you tell if they have worms?

You now have 14 out of 150?? That was a massacre.

No sorry, 14 outta 75 ordered and 125 on invoice ( over 3/4 were squished into a mass so we didn't count) we were refunded in full for what we ordered, the 14 left all have been eating but not much, water is plentiful, added electrolyte and vitamins, they drink close to half a gallon a day so far, we just keep finding them dead. I'll keep them in quarantine until they tell me it was heat stroke or heat related stress, I don't think it was anything like disease but because I don't know, we will take precautions just in case, we just want piece of mind its just a batch shipped the wrong time of year. We're still learnin, I just hate learning this way :/

The new batch we got Monday have already (wednesday) eaten almost what this dead box batch. :(
