The USA has had a number of cases of this parasite. It is believed there is a lot of un diagnosed cases. South & Central America I has the most and is a problem Please read the artic a land additional international on the disease. It is good to know things like this. I was trying to respond to your thread.  Sorry for the multiple posts.  My chickens love yogurt and ate it even if they felt bad.  It is easy to put meds in if you need to.  Hope they get better soon.

Most chickens love it but it's on the not good for chickens list if you look. It gives them the runs. Pam

I don't think we have those here. I haven't noticed them thanks for the info. Be safe in your travels! Pam

There has been a diagnosed case in Louisiana. But it most likely was close to Texas. As I said they suspect that a lot of cases go undiagnosed. They are also known as love bugs. If they get on you they bit.

What we call love bugs down here is a totally different bug. But I'll be on the look out. Thank you for educating me. Pam

Seems like I've seen bugs that looked like that - although we don't call them 'love bugs' here - our love bugs are a totally different insect & don't bite - just splatter all over your car & mess it up. Those almost look like some sort of boll weevil. Wicked, nasty-looking things!
