Thanks! I'm a member of Azure Standard as well and I have bought the scratch and peck as a mix in with the fermented feed. I just want them healthy and eating the best we can afford as we eat the eggs in turn.

For days, in every spare minute I have been working on a not so pleasant job. My husband recently evicted someone that hasn't paid rent in a LONG time. My husband is too nice in my opinion, lol. The house had been sitting for awhile because he is busy. Then the other day he and our oldest, along with some friends went to "pick up". They were not prepared for the volume of STUFF! Bags and bags to the trash and bags and bags brought here. At least 10 of the big black bags. I've been sorting, throwing more away and washing the good clothes to sell. Seriously, they have more clothes than my kids. And NAME BRAND. And had no problem walking away like it was nothing, asking the neighbor if they wanted anything they were welcome to it. 50 pairs of jeans/Jean shorts and khaki pants is what is done so far.

I don't think I will ever understand.


Oh, and like a dozen cell phones....... Bizarre.

Oooooo! What a treat. I know it's a lot of work but think of the value of washing and selling these clothes. Right in time for Christmas. A lot of people will see your listing on CL or whatever and rush to buy. Put the good stuff on Ebay. Or Salvation Army. Everybody needs new clothes. Even reworn ones.

Suggestion: If you have to have one right away...you can make one in about 45 minutes and one trip to a feed store for a cradle. Most hold 41 eggs and is less than 35.00 an ice chest, hot water tank thermostat, a ceramic light bulb fixture, and a PC fan you can pick up from a local thrift store and a wall plug from a broken lamp, box fan, or any type replacement wall plug with wire will do a glass jar with a sponge. a small piece of plexi glass, ..just an idea if you have to have it right away and they cant get it to you fast enough.

Mine need no maintenance, I check mine through a plastic glass window I put in the top, and only open it on days 7, 14, and 18....The temp and RH stay perfect.......my hatch rate is at 95%

Ok, Jennie, back up there. Can you sent a picture of what your's look like. I need another and don't want to fork over the $135 like last time. It's the Farm Innovators or something from Fleming. Ok, but not great. I plan on hatching heavily in spring and want another to finish off.

I contacted Nelson wholesale services. They have a $500 minimum order and total shopping was only $22. They have a large selection including organic feed and supplies. I think my saving were only $3-4 per bag. But that adds up when there are 40 ducks and chickens. I'm going to see if some friends want to do a small co-op to save on the cost of feed and supplies.

This is where I got my idea, only I use premade cradle, and a styrolfoam ice chest Most of what you need can be found in a thrift store, garage sale, or laying around the house. It will be this afternoon before I can take pics, but the basic things you need are

1. Electric Cradle unless you use this design to turn it manually
2. Styro foam Ice chest big enough for the cradle, these are easy for me to come by, a lot of food delivery companies use these to send food off shore to plat forms, or to land rigs
3. Cermaic light bulb fixture from a junk store, or hardware store, or one laying around the house.
4. Electric cord from a broken appliance
5. Hot water hearter thermostat, taken from an old hot water tank, or buy a new one
6. 100 wat light bulb
7. Tube and funnel for adding water
8 Small piece of plex glass
9. Several thermometers for cold spots I have one in each corner or lay one on top of the eggs
10. Fan - small desktop fan or one from a computer tower
11. Roll of duct tape, or insulation tape
12. 4 wire nuts (needed to connect the wire to the thermostats, to the light bulb) the thermostat controls the light bulb turning off and on)

I would be interested if it is in whole grain form soy and corn free.. What is the brand name? The two I've tried from Texas my birds wouldn't eat it. But I would love to buy in bulk and save so far I haven't found a brand I like for less than azure. Pam

Check out the website, they had several feeds. The process are not listed though unless you have a customer number which I'm in the process of getting. But that will at least tell you if they have something you want to use.
