"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Hi everyone! Busy week here. My baby just turned one, husband's family is in town from Florida, and I've been SUPER busy with my yarn. I was juuuuust about to catch up, then I got another order haha. That's definitely not a complaint. I love making things.

I've recently gotten into tea and I have become obsessed. Next spring I will be growing my own green tea and chamomile. Possibly also some lemon balm and mint. I've been spending a ton of time researching it lately, and have been experimenting with different brands.

My chickens love their new house now. It took a little time for them to get used to it. We originally had a board in there for a roost, but they refused to use it. Several nights in a row, they tried to go to sleep outside in the run on the big branch. Instead of inside of their house. We finally went into the woods near our house and pulled out a big branch. That night they went into their house without any complaints! We've been getting one egg per day from our RIR, Ariel. Our White Leghorn, Rapunzel, should start laying any time now. My husband gets the biggest kick out of what he calls their "football squats." It certainly makes it much easier to catch them!!!

And my mystery meal maker (Belle) does appear to be a Partridge Plymouth Rock. It has been confusing, because our EE (Rainbow) looks EXACTLY like her. The only difference is the leg color. My EE has green legs.

Our Dominique (Dottie) is sweet as ever. Very affectionate. You would never guess that she had leg problems as a chick.

That's my little recap. Goodnight, everyone! This chamomile tea is doing it's job!

Order paromie tea. It's graet Crakednut got me hooked my favorite is habiscus berry, Sleep with me, chamomile and lavender. Good to hear from you. Pam

Linda the ones from this ranch. Fell in love with these beauties. Waiting to hear how he wants the deposit. Pam
I'm waiting to hear back also. To get on the list for Spring. :) Don't take my spot. LOL :)

I looked at a lot of bators yesterday. For the price of the brinsea advance models you mentioned might as well kick it up a notch to the cabinets. Like Dicky's or a GQF.

I may hold off buying one for now. I learned I have access to a friend of a friend's cabinet incubator whom has good hatch rates and has been hatching a lot of chicks in the past year.

I just had a 30 egg day, at least 1 new layer,1st white egg, so now i know i have at least 2 white leghorns, white rocks lay brown eggs, i also had good results from my cholessteraal tests, 42 good 88 bad, ratio was 3.3, this is really good for my age and eating habits, my best results in the 6 years of testing, i attribute the good news to eating ll these home grown eggs, thats the only changes i have made to my diet in the last year, med is the same, it has got to be them good ole backyard eggs
Good to hear your cholesterol is in check TD. I need to have bloodwork done myself.

I had 3 Brown Leghorns that would lay me a nice medium to large egg about every day. I didn't keep them, they were so mean. They were not only mean to any chicken I brought into the flock. They were mean to each other. I have never had any chickens like them since. Great layers but rotten personalities. You may have nice ones but mine were rotten.
I have 2 of them, they fly the run fence everyday at daybreak and back and forth as they see fit, they have gotten comfortable coming up to the carport and checking for tidbits the grandkids drop, Tuesday, the one I suspect laid the egg ways pecking around and I walked up to her and she just squatted and kind of flexed her wings out, I said ok, so you want me to pick you up, I picked her up and she went to singing to me, I walked her back down the hill, she did this 3 more times Tuesday and Wednesday, the only one I have that has done that, thus is one of the rescue chicks of which there are about 29 her age, so I am expecting a whole bunch of colored eggs in the next couple weeks.

I just went to their website to check them out. A lot of their teas include mystery ingredients like "natural flavor" or "natural essence." Those are things I stay away from because they can add anything they want into the tea as long as it tastes the way they want it to and they don't have to tell you what they added. A lot of the time, it is also to cover up the flavor of tea leaves that aren't as high quality and to trick the customer into thinking that they are getting a natural quality product.
This article has great information about it. http://foodbabe.com/2013/08/21/do-you-know-whats-really-in-your-tea/

They don't mention anything about being pesticide free (which is important with tea since it is not rinsed before it is packaged and pesticides would go directly into your cup), but they do brag about being organic all over the website so I don't think they use any pesticides.

I like the teas where the only ingredients are "green tea leaves" or "chamomile flowers." Fair trade, organic, pesticide free, non gmo, etc. :)

You must be one of the fortunate ones. I posted on a thread and lots of people had good things to say about them and I found that amazing. Then one person that evidently had chickens like mine posted a reply that sounded just like something I would have said. I called mine "The chickens from Hell. I have read that they are very aggressive and mine were true to what they say. I always wondered why my other chickens were in such a hurry to get out of the coop in the morning. They would lunge at the door. I found out why after I got rid of the Leghorns. They wanted to get away from them as fast as they could. LOL! They have all been much happier now!

I had 5 RIR chicks that turned out to be all roosters, constant maheym, they wont cause any more problems ever, i also had 5 Black Australorp chicks that turned out to be roosters also, 3 went to a slumber party and never returned, the other 2 were hen killers, after giving them ample time to settle out, they were sent to the slumber party address also, now i just have 1 Barred Rock/ something that is a gentle giant, you never see a feather out of place and the hens do a belly flop for him to mount them, now he has 41 hens to him self, and he is like brooster the rooster, he mounts every one of them, especially just before dark, the hens line up by the door to get them some Bossman before retiring for the night. This is a pic of him and a few of his flock
