even when i transferred them from the new hatch brooder to the outside brooder, i counted them wrong and didn't know it for a week.

There is nothing better than fresh chick, by golly! Just so cute!

It's amazing how these chicks don't seem bothered by cold at all. They just go back to mom now and then for a warm up.

These red boys never stand still! But the shine on their feathers is awesome. And I'm really loving how much feathers they have still coming in. I bet they will still be filling out for months.

Cuts as little buttons Lemon. :)

Is that air cell too giant? They're all like that, practically 1/4 to 1/3 of the egg. I'm so afraid I'll have shrink-wrapped chicks and I won't be able to handle it.

Your on day 15 now right. Looks about right to me but you know I haven't any experience yet. :) What has your humidity been?
Lets's see what the pros say. :)

I'm on Day 16. Humidity has been pretty variable, 20-40%. I've been trying to do dry hatch but anytime it gets 25% or below I add some water. I've been trying to average 30-35% but those sunny days drop the humidity in the house to 40%. I'm really considering using a humidifier if I ever hatch again in winter.

Edit: I seem to remember seeing an air cell chart, but it didn't seem this big. But, I have a tendency to overreact.

We've had low humidity here too. Everyone's sinuses have been dry. I've been putting a pot of water in the stove to simmer. Seems that it would not be so dry with all the rain. But having the heater on and the cold temperatures do weird things. I've been needing to add water to the incubator every other day. I can't wait for the 60 degree day the weather man promised!!!!
