"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Me too. I've got an ear thing keeping me on the couches. Cleaning makes me dizzy. -wink wink nudge-

My hens have figured out how to go under the fence. There were six out earlier, so I just opened the gate so the roo could go out with them. Smart things. Maybe I should give them a pop door in my fence. :lau

Got a new angle on the broody:

I think she's got at least two pullet chicks, so that's good news. Husband heard me say "49 chickens" out loud the other day, and he got a bit panicked. So I'm under just a bit more pressure to trim the fat. ;)

I'm back and forth with taking about 15 chicks to the auction Friday night. If I wait til May, I'll know for sure if they're roos or not. Right now I'll be choosing based off leg thickness. I'd rather wait, obviously. I should go to the auction anyway, though, just to see how prices are. And they have a junk sale before the birds start, and there's usually something good on the cheap.
Where is the auction at on Friday night

I went and took pics of the broody's babies. The lighting was PERFECT. This is just for funsies. Yellow chicks are from the white hens. Black chicks is from the broody, French black copper marans. Not sure on speckled chick, but I think it also came from a white hen.

Hey y'all! Anyone have any fertile hatching eggs for sale that would be colored egg layers? I have a broody I just can't break so I'm thinking when you can't beat em...join 'em! I'm in Jennings so the closer the better. Thanks!

Wanda Lebert has EE and OE eggs in Ragley. I got mine from her. A bit of a drive for you, but she's positively the nicest sweetest lady. You can find her in the chicken groups on Facebook, either Cajun Chickens or Louisiana livestock and poultry

I have crested cream legbars and Easter eggers. Pam

The chicken math is killing me and my husband actually called me crazy. :)
I went to get feed today and I always look at the chicks on my way by, but something caught my eye today...Cuckoo Marans. Guess you know the next line, a few (or 10) little peeps came home with me. I already have 6 BLRW chicks and the broody is sitting on 5 eggs too...truthfully I did not need any more! I was already thinking of building a bigger coop, good thing I guess.
