"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Well, I went to give a treat to the chickens and while the cage was open my injured Leghorn jumped out. Well I had been parading her around the other chickens like you said to so I decided to see what happened. Well, you were right. My cockerel ran after her right away and tried to mate with her. I pushed him off and he tried a few more times before I gave up and picked him up. She walked around the other chickens and none of them pecked at her. So I put her back in her little pen and not sure what to do now. Let her heal and put her back with them? If it happens again do I need to get rid of that roo?

I guess we have a new grasshopper Camping. Take it as a compliment Mire it's a term of indearment.:lau Your roo is going to mate her it's his job. Some are rougher then others. Wait till her cut is scabed over before leaving her with the other flock mates. Is your roo the same breed or size as your hens? If he has just reached sexual maturity he is just learning. Grabbing her head is normal but you don't want blood drawn. Chickens are attracked to red and will peck each other to death.I would let her heal then reintroduse her if the roo grabs the comb stop them. See how he mates with the others. If he has mated with her he will with the other hens too. So you will know soon enough if he will draw blood everytime. If he does you can get rid of him for another or put him in quarenteen. Let him out to mate every 21 days then seprate again. If it was me and he doesn't get less aggerssive during mating I'd send him to frezzer camp and replace him but it's your call. Pam

I have them Cody. They are only 2 months old they aren't having any heat issues at this age. There are tricks or stratagies for winning for less I'll PM you them later. If your intrested in one before I do PM me. I didn't buy mine from them even tho I do buy or win from them. This breed is the flightyest breed I've ever had. They don't like to be handled are great free rangers. They are starting to calm down. I'll give you my secrets but lets not bid aginst each other. Deal? That one went way too high for me but last year when they first released them they went for 999.00 for 8+. That is crazy when you can buy direct for less.Last night they seemed to double insize. Remember my guess this breed post no one would play, that was them. I'll take up to date pics tomorrow. If you deside you want them you will be glad you asked. Lmao! Pam
I thought about you and wondered if you may have been bidding on them. I looked at the bidders but didn't have time to consult with you as there was only an hour or so left and it was early in he evening. If I knew you were bidding on something a wouldn't work against you that's for sure. I didn't know you had this breed also.

They are so expensive from GF. 100.00$ per chick is way more than I'd pay for them. I didn't look at the winning bid from the auction.

Do you know a good place to find literature on them. There's very little online?

Yea, let's get together via PM and talk. I may be interested in some just not sure yet.

I had to dub my daughters 4-h oegb this evening. I am not a happy Mommy :hit. She was wanting to do it herself. Which was admirable. But after she started on the first wattle I took over immediately. We had talked it over plenty and we had agreed that if it wasn't going well that I would have to take over. She hesitated to much and I didn't want to stress the bird. He got vitamins and scrambled eggs after and is now inside being very active. If anyone needed help now it seems that it would be me. Hahaha!!!!!! :idunno

Don't know if I did a good job or not yet. But I think it's decent for a first time.
Lemon, I had to do the same as Cody and Google "dubbing." Kudos to you for being able to do that. It will be awhile before I will be strong enough for that.

There isn't much info on them because they are rare. I didn't bid on them because I already have them and I know a cheeper auction to get them from. I know someone that's had them for a year but are selling them hasn't processed any for them self to eat. Pam

I think I misunderstood your other post. Next time I'll get with you before I bid.

I don't know any tricks to bidding.
Are you at liberty to disclose the other auction site

How much are they selling them for Pam. Chicks or eggs?

Also wanted to ask how fast they grow? Can you tell at two months?
