"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Got my chicks! Post Office called me at 630 this morning. So the 26 chick breed breakdown is: Americana, Columbian Rock Cross, Partridge Rock, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Welsummer and one bonus chick. They are happily jumping around, doing chick things and LOUD!
This was much better than my last shipped chick order. The Mt.Healthy people were exceptionally easy to deal with.

Do any of you buy from the mills / co Ops? saw another thread (in Minnesota) that local mills are 10$. cheaper on flock raiser. That would make it 17$ a bag around here. For a 20% protein 50 lb bag.

@alwaystj9 ; are u buying from beasley or triparish? What is zacharys bag lookin like

@Ponyiqandhens2 / @grizleyguy , st landry feed in opelousas or The grain mill in new iberia (rail & seed feed i think from my younger days) ? @Ursuline Chick what are yall mill’s options
@Hayden Goseek could you answer this, since you purchase our chicken feed?

My 26 chicks is now 25...
Death by misadventure, it somehow got stuck under the heater support and smooshed.
All the others doing well, I took them out for a head count and brooder cleaning.
I've never had this many in this brooder before. They waste more feed than they eat.

Hi all from the Baton Rouge area! I was an active member on here a few years back but got out of chickens for a while. Now I’ve got a couple of hens and 11 chicks I hatched at Christmas. It’s fun to have them again! Just finished up the newest coop this weekend and now looking for some buff orp eggs to hatch.

Just a quikc update on feed prices. Stopped by tri parish yesterday. They sell a 22%protein layer pellet 50 lb bag for 17.49 there 19 or 20% all flock was same price, but crumbles . No pellet.

Im working next to beasley today, gon stop in once i finish my inspections.

As of now i plan on trying the tri parish layer next time i need feed

@alwaystj9 ; the feed you like from kentwood is from Ware Milling in houston misipi. Its a 22% also, 18.49 for a 50 lb bag.

FWIW, feliciana coop in clinton on plank just before hwy10 is a dealer for them. Idk if they have your minerals tho
