"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I've been watching people who get their chick orders in the mail and are immediately posting the chicks on FB for sale at quite a markup.
For Dog Food I am juggling back and forth between Chewie and Walmart. Poor UPS guy hates those 50# boxes of dog food from Chewie.

we used to use purina weight management. It was like 55$ when we first started. Now its over 90. For a 37 lb bag.

found it at costco… there brand. 45$ for 48 lbs!! And our dogs love it.

Just fyi.. lone star does have a high quality dog feed; he told me alot of customers are sayin there dogs prefer that over victor now

Oh I get selling off the spares but, wow, the prices! I've seen BCM chicks at $12 each and even straight run breed mixes at $10 each.
I bought the 25 chicks and will probably sell about half. I didn't want straight run so the only good way to get pullets reasonably was to get 25.
Do you have any idea what laying age pullets are selling for?

if it was guaranteed pullet, 12$ is not high for french black copper marans. Even chicks

POL pullets 25 -30, 5 months up to 2 yrs . After that 15-20.. I actualy sell quite a bit

FWIW, when theres a breed i really want and trust the private hatchery (those local to us, primarily gioia and causeys); i pay around 20 for 4-6 wk old pullets

Good luck with them! My whole BCM experience was buying from a girl on BYC who raised some for a school project. I bought them (straight run) for $10/each. Unfortunately, all but 2 were roos. I just do a farm flock, egg layers and an ocassional dual purpose chicken or 2.

BCMs make a pretty good dual purpose bird. I suggest stewing the males. Like chicken and dumplings with chicken bone broth. It takes a lot of time, but it sure tastes good. Make your own thin dumplings. I feel sure you will be happy with the results.
