"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I have some mutts in the bator! Mix of production reds and buff orpingtons. Some re cute but some are ugly. Not sure where they came from but the last 2 hatches we had 2 black with red tipped feather chicks. Most of my roo's are buff orp. They were some free chicks when I ordered last year. I am excited to see what my free one's will be this year. I hope there not the orp again. the roo's seem very aggressive and are plucking my hens clean! lol

Cajunegghead, I'm surprised that your buff rooster is mean. I haven't seen a mean buff before, however, they all have their own personalities. I had a White Leghorn that was meaner than hell. He'd beat up all of the other roosters. It was kind of funny because he wasn't that big and the other roosters were much bigger than him. He was also mean to me and would jump me quite often. I finally killed him.

I had an incubator full of eggs in "lockdown" and my heating element died on me.

A little off topic here...........................Did anyone know that Victoria Reggie "Vicki" Kennedy (the widow of U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy) was born in Crowley, Louisiana? My co-worker and I were talking today and she mentioned that she and Vicki Kennedy went to school together. She said that Vicki Kennedy and the late Senator Kennedy attended a school "reunuion" in Crowley many years ago. I had no idea that Vicki Kennedy was born in Crowley, LA.

The only time I've ever had one get mean was this weekend when I took my broody from her babies! Now these babies were already 7 weeks old and she was SO PO'ed. First thing she did was start attacking the other girls then she chilled out a while. She stayed by that cage for a while trying to figure out where they were. I did feel really bad!!
