Nice nesting boxes Julie! I wish I'd get a broody. I do have somebody who wants to buy Ameracauna chicks if I hatch some, but I sure do hate to pull out the incubator again - just got everything straightened back up!
I went through burnout last summer - it just got so hot & I was so tired every evening I finally sold off a bunch of my flock - things were much easier after that, but then I had the night predator hit & within 2 nights lost nearly half of what was remaining. Now I'm building back up again - finally got the Blue Orps I've been longing for -- SO pleased with them! but trying to keep myself under control w/any further hatching plans this year! also everybody goes into lockdown at sunset so no more losses to predators.
I increased the size of my vegetable garden so I can put up more food this year to help w/the meal budget so I know that will take up more time also.
Right now all I have left to do is move the chicken tractor into place & put the littlest ones in it this weekend, and after I move the Blue Orps in w/the main flock I'll move the little ones into the growout pen. Still have some painting to do but basically have everything in place for the summer.
Sure is nice outside today, wish I were home getting "real" things accomplished, but - gotta have that paycheck!
