"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Nice nesting boxes Julie! I wish I'd get a broody. I do have somebody who wants to buy Ameracauna chicks if I hatch some, but I sure do hate to pull out the incubator again - just got everything straightened back up!

I went through burnout last summer - it just got so hot & I was so tired every evening I finally sold off a bunch of my flock - things were much easier after that, but then I had the night predator hit & within 2 nights lost nearly half of what was remaining. Now I'm building back up again - finally got the Blue Orps I've been longing for -- SO pleased with them! but trying to keep myself under control w/any further hatching plans this year! also everybody goes into lockdown at sunset so no more losses to predators.

I increased the size of my vegetable garden so I can put up more food this year to help w/the meal budget so I know that will take up more time also.

Right now all I have left to do is move the chicken tractor into place & put the littlest ones in it this weekend, and after I move the Blue Orps in w/the main flock I'll move the little ones into the growout pen. Still have some painting to do but basically have everything in place for the summer.

Sure is nice outside today, wish I were home getting "real" things accomplished, but - gotta have that paycheck!

I'll be honest and I know it sounds wasteful but we just buried them. My husband is sick, & my backs bothering me this morning I just didn't feel like dealing with it!

Hey -- I've sent several to be what I call "gator bait" -- walked down to the bayou & tossed them in. I'm sure the gators did enjoy them!

I bet they did!! I always tell Eddie we need to go put stuff like that in the very back of our property but he just doesn't want to draw more animals than we already have!!

He's right. It will draw unwanted predators. You all did the right thing.

For those who are NPIP certified, can you help me with this please? I can't remember what are we to do when we sell our hatching eggs or birds to someone and we want to give them proof that we are NPIP certified. Do we give them a copy of our certification letter or do we just give them our NPIP #? The vet told me but I forgot.

You know mine never told me anything. I did read on here that there is a certain form that your supposed to send in with the eggs, chicks, etc. You could email Dr. Barrington and he should be able to tell you!!
