Chickens are kinda like raising children. When we first have children, We don't know what we're doing a lot of the time but we muddle along trying to figure things out. In the meantime, our children are quite resilient and growup in spite of our mess ups. About the time we think we've figured things out our children start having children. Thereafter, for the rest of our lives our children drive us crazy making some of the same mistakes raising their children that we made when raising our children. And, of course, our children usually won't listen to our GOOD advice because they thing we're "old fashioned".

This was the kill from a week or so ago. I heard some growling coming from the dog igloo that I have on the back porch for my feral cats to sleep in and I looked inside and this is what I saw.

The frozen bottle that you have in the metal pans remain frozen for about 2 hours at my place.

They last about 3-4 hours in the shade. I put them out in the morning (around 8), and I exchange them out with new ones around 4 in the afternoon when I get off of work. The chickens huddle up around them, if you notice the ones sitting on the frozen bottles aren't panting. I also put one in their water in the morning and in the afternoons. I tried plugging in a sprinkler while they were out in the yard free ranging, but they run and stay away. I found that they do like the wet dirt though, so around the house I spray the ground and they lay in it.
