Howdy All!!!
I hate to say, but I lost one of my Speckled Sussex hens from my first flock yesterday. She was in the hen house and the door somehow got shut. Never has happened before, and she got too hot. Really a shame because she was one of my friendliest hens.
On the other note... The 4 coronation Split Sussex that I hatched have finally been identified. 3 are coronation, one is a white split. The white split is a roo, and one of the coronations are a roo. I have one Coronation pullet that hatched the weekend of the Spring Expo back in March and she is really nice looking, She's 10 weeks old now, so just about POL!. Sadly she won't have a Coronation roo to mate with so she will just lay eggs. Her buddy a BA Pullet just hit POL at 13 weeks so we are expecting to find an egg from her soon. The Coronation Splits hatch also had 2 BA's hatch and one of them is a roo. So if they make it all the way out, I'll have a Trio of BA, a Trio of Coronations, A trio of EE, a Trio of BR's. All I'll need a Buff Orphington and I'll have a quad of those.
STAY COOL!
Joe
