You know I keep hoping I could get my husband intrested in something like that whether it's quail, turkey's or anything really. We've talked about even raising rabbits for meat. Right now he's in the process of trying to trap hogs on some property in Kentwood. He went out there Wednesday night and put the trap out, checked it Thursday night and didn't have anything and their going back up there tonight to check it again!! We'll see I guess!! I see your quail flight pen. I thought quail had to be raised off the ground!! Can you tell me a little more about raising them??

Thanks!!

Trapping hogs?..Come on tell him he wants a real hog huntin experience to come down farther south and hunt with dogs.We still bring em in live. Lots more action and adrenaline!!..lol... I haven't seen a trap in yars...Until I watched hogs gone wild...Geez them people wouldn't know what to do with our hogs. They catching them babies with toothpicks.Ours got bananas hanging from their jaws.4 ft tall easy and a good boar will be 400 easy....lol...

Whiskey bay Like I said in an earlier post I lost all mine but 1 hen to the storms this year so I am starting completely over myself. If I can get these raised I will hook you up though. Count as of now I think is 14 reds and 12 amhearst. I do know where I may could get you a hen and me a roo though coming soon

I know I can get reds here but need more than a couple pair so here we go again. All my eggs came from ebay too. Want the sellers that hatched good ?

Barred babies you will get a ton of different opinions on that issue but I dont have any problems with any of my birds and have raised them on both wire and sand. I like them in the flight pens as they tend to grow faster and meatier. I have raised them that way for many many years and in my exp its the best all around setup. That pen in the pic we just put about 400 in.

Sorry I have so many questions!! You process so many periodically thoughout the year?? And you only raise Bobwhites?? I'm going to have to give this a try!!

I was outside today and took a few pics of some of the babies. The first set of pics is a pic of the baby gosling that Gracie9205 gave to me.

This is a pic of him on his first night at home with me. He was born March 21, 2011. In this pic, he is only a few days old.

This is what he looks like today. He is about 2 months 3 weeks today. He was standing around us and watching as we took apart pallets and built picnic benches.

And as he departs, he says, "I've seen enough here folks. So long."

These 2 babies were born May 5, 2011 and were found about 10 feet away from mama. They were knocking at death's door. I didn't know that they had hatched and I "accidentally" saw them. When I found them, they were covered with flies, dirt and one of them had a lot of his down feathers chewed off of him and his skin was red and irritated. In this pic, they are a few days old.

They seem to enjoy the frozen water gallons that I put outside today. Today, they are 5 weeks old. They still have not won their spot in with the other geese but I'm sure one day they will.
