"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

kuntrygirl - I new I would come up with something, I moved my Rhode Island Red and my Black Star to
a seperate pen because they where tearing up my 6 game hens, you would think it would be the other way
So I hade to do a little fence work and repair old nest box a litte.
I also pulled a fence post to make my gate stop dragging.

Barred Babies - cute pic, I bet she stays at that tree till the bird flys away huh?
We call it cool seal to paint tin roof, white so it reflects, gonna research it cant remember who makes it but Im sure
you can buy it anywheres.

LaMike - Thanks

I started to do the tin,but it is soooo hot.It really makes it much hotter in the pens.My brooder coop is all open sides with only chicken wire around to keep anything locked in (or out if needed),and tin roof.It is soo hot under there. The tin magnifies the heat.I am going to use the poly roofing(plastic tin) on my PVC pens and converted kennels. The white poly actually makes a big difference.Once my chicken and pheasant pens are done,I will be revamping the brooder house, stripping the tin and replacing with the poly. The pens I'm working on now have plywood for roofing, because it was available for recycling...lol...The lattice is recycled, although I may have to invest in a couple extra sheets if I decide to go across the front of the pens between doors.which I believe I am. Besides the shade,it adds a nice 'touch up' to the whole wood and wire thing...lol...

You know what really helps the tin is this paint like stuff. Not really sure what it's called like a coolant or something. I painted it on the tin I have on my big coop and don't have a huge problem with the heat in there!! I figured to cover this 8ft x 16ft section with new pieces of tin I'd need 16 10ft pieces which adds up to about $120. The lattice is 4x8 so I would need 4 pieces of that. Not sure how much it's running now. Haven't bought any in a few years!! Thanks again!

It's a cool seal. They use it on roofs of travel trailers and such.Problem is you'd have to mop it on(hoping u don't get any on you because it's horrible) and with my big area It would be impossible to get into the middle past the length of the mop. I built the shed and it's sturdy, but I'm not puttin my butt up there.... lol.Besides the tin is ols and falling apart anyway. The poly is only a bit more and saves me the extra...When I figured it up it was gonna run me about 300 for the whole thing @ 12ft pieces. The lattice varies in price from $12 to $30 depending on what ur using (wood or poly) and the thickness.

Well, yeah, mop or paint... It's just my building is too large to get all from the edges even with an extension pole.I would have to get one of the telescoping poles and they are a lil expensive for something I would use once.Plus, half of my tin is just decrepid and fall apart,so the cool seal won't help...lol... It has to be replaced anyway....

Decided to come inside for a lil bit. Working on my pen, helped hubby herd ducks.Yes herd...lol...They are so goofy. They all stick in one group and when you start walking them, they literally move in a herd.104 ducks and 3 young geese being herded, split, and reherded to other pens...lol... Thats alotta cluckin ducks....hehe... Giant Pekins grow TOO fast!!... Had someone come to buy 20 of the 7 week olds.He split them into two cages and it took two of them to carry each cage. Somebody eating good tonight...lol...
