No I got enough chickens lol. Thank you though.
It's weird everyone tell me that Orps are supose to be the friendliest breed. Out of the 7 in that coop she is the most skitish, Im patient with her though I think she will come around. The Golden Pheonix in that coop is my fav she is sweet and the 4 PR's are just starting to get real friendly.

When my Orps go broody they turn in to SHARKS!! I'm scared of them. So, I don't know about the friendliest breed. Well, at least not over here at my place. However, the Orps, Rhode Island Reds and Black Australops are the top 3 breeds that my country folks here in Opelousas contact me the most for. These are the top 3 breeds that they use to start their back yard flock. I can't keep enough on hand.

Yeah; they do bite pretty hard -- and don't mind biting you if you reach into their nest. They mean business!

I like that! What did you screw onto the top of it to make that little roof?

Thanks. All it is is a piece of another 55 gallon drum that is measured to fit it to make a roof.

Just reminds me how careful we have to be in making sure our animals have proper shade, cool accomodations and plenty of water. Poor birds.

Here are a couple of my pics from some of my chicks that hatched out during the Spring Event... Both have just started laying. Twiley do you still have the same phone number? I have a dozen serama eggs to send ya.

This is my Coronation Hen Macey.. She is 3rd generation Greenfire She was the only one that made it from a cat attach.

I have some Buff Orpingtons. My Lavendar Orpingtons are not laying yet, although, I don't think it'll be too long before they start laying. I'm getting some Blue Orpingtons from Terri tomorrow. I think they may be laying. However, I won't be hatching anything else until it cools off some. I've lost quite a few babies over the last couple of weeks due to the heat. That's sort of why I decided to get rid of some chickens right now.

If you come up with some extra eggs you don't want to hatch...you can always send em this way...lol...Any Orps,BLRW,SLW,or BCM...lol..... I think everyone only sent me rooster eggs...lol..

He is handsome!!! Do you still have him?

No,he finally got over the shyness and got to where he liked to rub on you or bump ya a lil bit(never hard),but when the horns started coming in it worried me.He accidentally stuck me a couple times rubbing. So I sent him up to the country with someone who had some other sheep.I had to let DH load him up cause I couldn't bear to watch.

NOTHING!!!!

Hey Missi, I know that you were asking about geese and some type of nesting box and then barrels came up, so it dawned on me that I have this little thing that I use for the geese and it's a nesting box that is made from a 55 gallon drum. The geese are trained to go in here and lay and set on their eggs but sometimes they lay where they want but for the most part, I know when they are about to start laying eggs, so I prepare their nesting box placing hay inside. It protects them from the rain and all other weather. Absolutely no leaks. So, when I find free 55 gallon drums, I get as many as I can to build more of these.

I used those alot before KAtrina for doghouses when I would get an abundance of rescues in.They worked great!!

Well,Ole Steve is irking the nerve again lately. This morning I wake up to find him IN one of the chicken pens with some of my babies. He stepped on a few of them, and let all the rest out. I don't know what his problem is lately. He will not eat feed. Not his anyway. But he will try his damndest to get ahold of the chicken or rabbit feeds. He has the wire all torn up on my coop door, the fence going into the duck pen,He almost had my PVC pen colapsed from trying to get in to the feed.THEN this evening for supper, hubby decides to fry the shrimp and stuff outside in the big fryer.Well, afterwards the handle was too hot to carry,so he figured he'd leave it set for a bit to cool.Well Steve's dumbazz goes up and starts to lick the freakin hot grease!!!! Well,he learned his lesson quick!
barnie.gif
Sooo looks like someone is gonna lose his manhood.I hadn't bothered doing that before because he's actually very sweet and good with the girls(kids). So I figured if it ain't broke don't fix it. He was good for almost a year, but now he's testing me...lol...

So I've gotten some tin up on top the coops for the birds.Got 2 of the doors on and the other 2 framed up waiting for wire and hanging tomorrow. Then all I need is to find some more tin( or buy some:barnie) I redid the door to open out, that way steve pushing on them won't knock them in again.

I am getting rid of a Showgirl rooster if anyone is interested.Otherwise I'm putting him on a plane to Cadjien's place...lol...

Here's the pic for the day.....
