It WAS a gorgeous day and look out next week-----think we'll get our first frost, maybe?

Doesn't bother me either. It's all in fun and games. To be honest, I don't have a favorite anything. Never have never will when it comes to sports or anything like that. Just not my cup of tea. I'm not attached to anything really. It's too stressful.

I enjoy my own little world. Been that way since I was a kid. I'm a loner - a rebel.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I am back in BR for the week, and hoping it goes by quickly.

My 2 black maran hens from peachick are supposed to be shipped Monday or Tuesday, and I am so excited to get them.

She has some of the nicest blue / splash marans I have seen. I am so happy it has finally cooled off enough to get them down here.

If anyone is interested Ideal poultry is running a $0.99 red broiler special for Wednesday. The the hubby has been wanting to raise some, so I figured that is about as cheap as I am going to find them. Should be ready to butcher by Christmas!

That's what I tell my little people in the family
and they get a big kick out of it . I'll tell them , let Uncle Stevie get a screw driver and unscrew your belly button and your legs will fall off and they are like

I remember getting that email. It said that the Red Broilers don't get as big as the Cornish but they won't have the leg problems like the Cornish do. I have a gift certificate for Ideal and I can't wait to order broilers.

And you're right, I think that is as cheap as you can find them.

I kinda have mixed feelings about it too. Normally I like a little cold weather, but I remember this past Jan when I just had my knee surgery & OUCH! the cold really hurt like the dickens -- so I dont' know what it's going to be like this year--- they say you feel the cold in your bones, once you've been hurt. I worry about Jim. He's supposed to get his "real" cast tomorrow afternoon. LOL, that's the same injury Sean Peyton got yesterday except he had to have surgery -- Jim didn't hurt his ligaments so he did not have to have surgery, just an awful long time in casts of various sorts.

That IS a good price on the Ideal broilers! I would like to raise a batch but first I'd have to get another freezer to put them all in -- out of room here! I'm interested to know how they do for you who do try them though.

I have two very disgruntled roosters in solitary confinement & still not sure if I want to keep them or bring them to gumbo-land. Why feed two extra beaks until next year in the off chance I want to raise more? When I know I will be tied up with my peacocks -- whom I VERY MUCH want to raise more of! I no longer have coworker egg customers so it's just the family & friends to share eggs with - and I have 16 hens... anyway, will make that decision later. Just pondering out loud....

Have a good night all!!!
