"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Well, last night was day 8 of my first hatch in the Brinsea incubator. I started out with 27 eggs (12 BLRW from Mike & 15 shipped Basque Hens), but due to a major boo-boo on my part, I only set 24 of them. I put my 2 open boxes of eggs down while I was doing final prep only to find that my 2 Bengal cats decided to climb in the tiny boxes with the eggs.  They cracked 2 of the BLRW and 1 of the BH eggs. :hit  Boy I have to watch those 2 carefully!

Now the good news!  Nine of the 10 remaining BLRWs appears to be developing fine (1 was a quitter), and 10 of the 13 shipped BH eggs look good (1 quitter and 2 clears).  Isn't that pretty good for travelling eggs? This is my first time incubating, so I'm not really sure. Even the BLRWs went for quite a drive!  Crossing my fingers that most of the remaining eggs make it. When should I candle again?

Sorry to hear about those cracked eggs. Wishing you good luck on your hatch. :fl

Hey there La-yers and BYCers

Sounds as if you're doing alright with the eggs there mzstre, some folks candle at day 7- day14 and day 18 right before lockdown. but there's no scribed in stone time/days but the best thing to remember is the less they are messed with the better off the hatch % will be due to jostling them, possible bacteria entering the shell pores form contamination, so on and so forth, Generally I check them at day 7 for fertility then some of the questionable ones from then I will check at day 14 and then I check all that are still around at day 18, then don't mess with them again till hatched out or discarded after the alotted time.

Hey y'all! Remember me? I've been MIA for a couple months because I had a little baby girl January 5th, and have been pretty busy. Things are leveling out now, though, and I have 50+ BCM and a few silkie eggs in the incubator.

Here's hoping for a good hatch!

Welcome Back, Tabitha! I know you've been one busy lady with a new baby. Congratulations, too!

I was wondering if any of ya'll have any or have done and extensive search and find on Heritage stock Buff Rocks. If so any info on purchasing some would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

'bout time to plant "taters" here if it dries out for a few more days, like the old sayin' goes "it's still to wet to plow round here"..
