"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I would think tractor supply would have the gamebird feed? I used to get Purina @ Rooster's before they closed. Greg does his own blend @ Petrus but it's the same protein level & looks & smells the same. I get all of my feed there now. I know he carries the medicated chick starter but not sure about gamebird - have to ask him tomorrow when I go there - will let you know - I'm sure if he doesn't have it he can custom blend it, or else I can check at our tractor supply store here for it.

rats, something else to worry about! these birds are gonna drive me crazy!

Don't even get me started with Tractor Supply. I get the 30% Purina Game Bird Startena from Ranch Outlet. That's the only thing that I feed the turkey poults. I am stickler about getting 30% protein in the turkey babies. They look soooooooooooooo much better using 30% protein.

I thought you (perhaps someone else) mentioned something about a "Conditioner" feed for Adult peas.

So, I have the 30% Game Bird Startena and that is what I used to fill up the feeder for the pea chick. I'll have to get another bag tomorrow because the turkey poults are scarfing it down. I also use the 30% protein and mix it with the chick starter. The Marans are eating a combo blend of FlockRaiser 20% and 30% protein. I don't want to overload them too much with protein but I find that my birds do well on the combo blend.

BTW, the 30% protein is $21.00 a bag. :th

I did -I used to feed Purina Game Bird Flight Conditioner (it says "Game Bird Chow" on the bag) to my adult peas. Now I'm feeding the Petrus equivalent of the same thing - it's a high protein (forget the exact %) crumble. I also transition my babies to it when they are about 3 months old - I've found it really makes a difference in their growth & health!

From hatch to 3 months I feed the startena same as you do--- for the peas & keets it'll be the gamebird startena.

and yes-- it is expensive & they eat like little starving horses!

Two more Blue Copper Marans over Coronation sussex. I lost the splash chick, but the others are doing fine. They're all showing a lot of white now that they're feathering out. At first they all looked like Marans.

Congrats on all the new hatches!

Just killed this 5' rattler about 25 yards from the coop and just after I posted those pics!
Way to go!!! that's one less of those nasty things to worry about!!! Looks like he had something in his belly -- hopefully rats & not chicks or eggs! Your chicks are cute -- is that one on the left a roo? Almost looks like a comb sprouting there.

twentynine here.
