"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

after the 4th big dark brown double yoker in 8 days my wife has got me to start looking for a few more cuckoo marans, so if anyone knows where i can find some and they can be anywhere from hatching eggs to grown hens and a rooster or 2
I'm on a waiting list right now with Cowgirl75446 - I hatched some cuckoo marans from her years ago back in the Eggbid auction. She has some old bloodlines & they lay nice big dark brown eggs. Right now her girls are moulting so she is having to wait to fill orders - she also the other Marans breeds and Ameracaunas & several other breeds. She is from Texas so the eggs don't have far to ship.

Hello Kuntrygirl

My sister wants a few turkeys for eye candy in the back yard and I seen yours in the trees. Do they all want to roost in trees or is yours just special? :lau  She was looking at some Bourbon Reds, do they have to be in a covered pan?

LOL @ roosting.

Well, not ALL of them want to roost in the tree but they do enjoy a high roost from time to time. :lau

No, they don't have to be in a covered pen. Mine roam with the rest of the animals. She should be careful if she has predators, then they may need to be locked up at night. My turkeys fly on top of the chicken house and chicken coops and sleep there at night. They are about 8 feet high in the air.

What are "heritage" RIR's?

Julie,
This is one of my heritage RIR cockerels about 7 months old. The blood line to this bird goes back 100 years without anyone ever mixing any other blood lines into his families line. 50 to 75 years ago all RIR's pretty much looked like this guy.

He is from the Mohawk line....

Chris

Very handsome.
