Good morning La-yers. Tomorrow is the big day. I hope that everyone is preparing and have everything they need to make tomorrow a special day. I'm getting hungry just thinking about what everyone all over the world will be having for dinner on tomorrow. If you all get a chance, can you take a pic of your meals and post them so that I can lust over what you're having?

So did you decide not to have one of your toms "take one for the team"?

Good morning! I'm ready to get off work (we close at noon) & get home & start preparations.

Also, wash my car, since that stray tomcat has been sleeping on top of it at night & tracking cat prints all over the windshield! How he's finding mud to do so is beyond me.

Since I processed the duck this weekend, it drained me. So, I didn't feel like processing a big ole tom. I will try to process the a turkey for Christmas. That will give them time to decide who wants to take one for the team. :gig

We'll be here ALL DAY. :hit I'm so sleepy and my patience is short today. I cleaned and packaged eggs for HOURS last night. Everyone got their Thanksgiving egg order in. I am SOLD OUT of eggs. I don't think I have any to make myself some potato salad for tomorrow. Now, who am I gonna buy farm fresh eggs from? :smack

I had a strange conversation with a guy this morning. As most of you all know, I am looking for hens for this older guy in my neighborhood who bought some sick hens from another guy. He ended up having to kill about 15 of his hens. This included his healthy hens that got a bad respiratory disease from the sick hens he unknowingly bought from someone else. Well, I called this guy up this morning and told him that I was looking for some hens for someone else. I told him what the guy was looking for and he said he had it. I asked the guy was his pullets healthy and he said yes. I explained that the older guy had bought some sick hens and brought them home and they made his other hens sick. Now this is the kicker.............The guy on the phone said that chickens usually get sick when you buy them from someone and bring them to your place. I was like, "HUH"? NOPE! Sorry, not true. I told him that was NOT true. I told him that if sick hens are purchased from someone and brought back to that person's chicken yard, will bring that same illness to a healthy flock and make everyone sick. Now I"m having second thoughts about letting this older guy aware of the possibility of getting these hens. This guy's hens may be sick too. :/

If anyone knows anyone who has one or if you have one and want to sell a food/meat scale, please let me know. I"m looking for a kitchen food scale that goes to at least 40 lbs.

While not at your level, I ran into a similar situation! -- you know I have been gathering eggs the past couple of weeks to incubate - and my girls have NOT been laying well at all, just coming out of moult.
Well they finally did start laying & Mom mentioned she was almost out of eggs, so I brought her a dozen a couple of days ago.

Then last night started thinking about potato salad & realized I have no "older" eggs to boil - just 3-4 fresh ones that won't peel out worth a hoot! So I had to call Mom & explain that I need to go trade 4 "newer" eggs for "older" ones if we want potato salad tomorrow!
