Love BLUE Chickens? Suede & His Girls (NEW PIC Added)

WOW! He is beautiful! My buff orp hen may be a he, I wonder if mine will be as big? Did I say WOW?

WOW! My 23 weekers are even smaller than I thought they were! Mine are banties, of course, but......WOW! Suede's a big boy, eh? LOL.......He is so handsome, though.

Jordan, his legs are larger than they appear, but you're right, in proportion to his body size, they seem rather inadequate, LOL. I wish Velvet would hurry, too. I have two people in line for little Suede babies!
Joan, the Blue Orps are the largest Orps, as I understand it. The roos can get up to 14 lbs and this boy just might get close before he's fully grown.

Suede is SO gorgeous!!!!! You are killing me!!

Cynthia, if I hatch eggs from Suede mated with blue hen, will I get blue, splash, black, a mix? I get sooo confused with the blue genetics....

They are so beautiful, you are making me want Suede and Miranda babies!

I will be so anxious to see how they turn out when these youngsters are are old enuff and have lil ones! I wouldnt mind some of those eggs myself!

Not to go off your topic, but did you keep or get rid of Maverick? I loved hearing your stories bout him "tellin you all his problems"!

Hi, I was just currious as to where you got your blue orps from. I would love to have some, but when I did a search for them... I couldn't find them in the US. I found them in Canada and I might add at a very exspensive rate. My hubby said he would get me some... but at 15.00 a piece... ummmm just to exspensive for my taste. By the way beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks
Tes

I just love my big blue roo...he is cochin....I also have a buff roo much sweeter personality and when others come to see them...they just love the buff. I am not sure what it is about the blue ones but I think they are gorgeous. What a beautiful bird Suede is.

Becky, yes, you have the possibility of getting blue, black and/or splash from two blues mating. I have hatched all three colors, but only splash roos, alas! I want splash hens, too!
Thanks for asking about Maverick. I did sell him, but I miss his sunny disposition and sweet manners around here. He did talk to me alot when I'd hold him-what a baby! The nice woman who bought all my extra chicks bought him for her two-yr-old BR laying flock so she could reproduce them. He now has his own women without competition and that's what gave me the incentive to let him go. He's a doll of a boy and she says her girls like him alot.
Tes, I got the hatching eggs from a BYC member in Alabama that Suede and Velvet came from and eggs from a man in W.Va and that's how I got Skye. Sandhill Preservation in the U.S. sells them as straight run chicks for $5 each-fairly pricey after you add shipping, I guess. Since they're straight run anyway, thought I'd hatch my own, much cheaper, especially if you get a good hatch. Both the people I bought eggs from got their original, but probably not all, their stock from Sandhill.
Thanks for all the compliments on my Suede. As someone told me, here's some perspective for you-he'll continue to grow till he's almost TWO years old!
