I am here in Virginia so not that far for them to be sent which is a great thing! I am a first time owner of chickens, and like Aran, we only set out to get enough to feed our large family of 6 (7th on his own) ... oopppssss I got carried away... I have 52 of them now and have completly fallen in love with the orps, with their gentle nature and friendliness. But the blue orps I have just fallen head over heals for!!!! Again, thank you for the information... my hubby says... well that price is better then the 15 but still would have paid the 15 to make me happy LOL, and hubby says thank you too for saving him a few dollars LOL.

Take care of that beautiful boy and all his ladies. They are Beautiful... Guess I need to get some of my pics up.

If I could put up posters for my "teenage" hens, Suede would be plastered all over the walls!

:love:love He just looks like a star to me. He is soooo beautiful. Is it OK to call him beautiful or should I stick with handsome?

SH......he is very handsome......are the blue as sweet as the buff? I know with things like Labs......the colors IMO are very different in personality. I wonder if the orpingtons are all the same friendly characters?

Wow, thanks all for your kind words about my Big Blue Baby Boy! He is very very sweet now, but I can tell you that the blues at first are definitely more skittish as chicks than the Buffs I've had. However, I handle all my birds and they do get calmer and it's so worth the effort with the beauties. They are no more skittish than some of my other chicks, though, and they all will get better with handling. That said, it really can be as much an individual thing as a breed thing. I've heard of people who had skittish Buffs as well, although rarely.

SH...i am SOO in the dog box now!LOL i brought home 2 rescue chickens today from the animal shelter/vet!
hehehe somebody stop me!

You are so addicted and there is no hope, LOL.

Just be sure you keep all new birds away from your current ones till you are positive they don't have anything to pass on to yours. At least three weeks, maybe a month, is best. Chickens have the worst diseases that make them carriers for life so you have to use caution when bringing home adult birds. Dont want anything to ruin your enjoyment of your chickens!

Speckledhen,

I'm curious about the crosses Suede will make with his girls. What colors are you expecting? Man is he gorgeous! I'm on a small suburban lot so I'm rather limited with my chickens, but the more I see the more interested I get. They come is so many different shapes, sizes and colors, personalities too. Thanks

Karen
