Yup, that's what the Jerseys all about! He is rather large comparing him to the 'BIG' Buff Orpington hens in the background. He's a runt, actually! There where bigger ones a the guys place where I got him! Have you heard about the Russian Game? Some of them grow to be three feet tall!

I'm thinking of getting the Old English Game because they're the top broody. Some one I know is a breeder and doesn't ever use an incubator, thanks to them! Muscovy ducks are very good at brooding too, they sit three batches of any egg a year! Oh, my Australorp just hatched her sixteenth chick this morning, and is pushing seventeenth! The lady who gave me the Australorp said that the limit per hen is 12 to 13, but Old Crow is just hatching them like nothing! She has five more eggs left out of 21!
 
Yes games are top broodie but mean when they are broody. I had a silver duvkwing game hen that went broody like 6 or 7 times a year she raised them to a month old and left them then started laying again and when she got to 12 eggs she went broody. Wow congrats on your hatch.
 
I was going to buy a Duckwing Game Hen earlier this year, but I was too scared of Games. Yes, they are very mean when broody! I've seen the hen dash out of her nest when a chick was taken away! Do your hens attack you when brooding chicks? My hen trusts me so much that I can reach underneath her to check her eggs and she won't peck or make a single sound!
 
They have never pecked me when they had went broody until this year when I let them free range the entire year they have gotten mean with there babies I guess because they haven't seen but just once or twice a week but now I got them pinned up.
 
That does happen with free ranging chickens. Hopefully they tame! What are you raising chickens for? I'm raising them for meat and eggs, primarily eggs. If your interested in eggs, you'd want Leghorns. If meat, Barred Rocks, Cornish High-Birds, and other heavy-bodied birds. Just asking.
