Low production/soft shelled

The poop looks normal and perhaps some cecal poop, that is also normal. The last photo looks a little runny. Have you been providing fruit? What do you feed them including treats?

If they drink a lot of water, it can also turn their poop a little runny. If you provide blueberries it will turn the poop blue or purple once or twice. We are experiencing high heat and they will occasionally have a runny excrement as their water intake has increased and also have watermelon to help hydrate.

Frozen apples, cucumbers and purple seedless grapes. Lots of water, changing out 2,3 times during the day because it's been really out, 100+days. Ground is dirt, so I also have been wetting it down to create pudding.

If possible could you please read my opening comments on this thread regarding No Shell Egg. Your thoughts are welcomed and appreciated.

Drinking too much water, eating watery fruits in hot summer day is normal, but these also create diarrhea.

I soak my chicken feed in water overnight making it looks porridge like to add water to my chickens. But I have to throw out the left over as the heat could cause bacteria in watery feed.

When it is so hot and my chickens are open mouth breathing. I soak each of them in a bath of water, wet their tummy and they are good to go for awhile.

I would identify who laid it and give her some calcium citrate + d3 tablets and see if that clears it up, otherwise not much else you can do besides monitor and wait. I am still thinking it may clear up at some point but the immediate danger is a soft shelled egg can break inside of a hen and that can be very dangerous, hence why I would definitely start the tablets if you haven't already and keep an eye out to make sure said hen isn't acting off

I agree that the poop doesn't look particularly concerning and is likely due to all the watery food and increased water consumption. Just keep an eye out to make sure no one has poop on their bum so they don't get flystrike

Hey there FrostRanger. Identifying who dun it, is going to be difficult. Unless I'm standing guard outside or setup a camera probably not going to happen.

Who dune it? 5 hens, 2 laying.

You might like to check their Vents and combs that might help to identify who is not laying egg so you only have 2 laying hens to work on who dune it.

Then you might like to put those 2 hens together and monitor them, this might be a bit easier to identify the who dune it.

Well SkyAJJ I know who dun it . I went outside to give my run a cool down and fill up there feeder for breakfast, when I put down the feeder my 3reds who go in for the night around 8:30 came to grab a bite before bedtime and then I saw it. White poopy runny poop from one of my reds. Gotcha.

Is that the egg white or membrane? Not urine?

Calcium citrate plus D available in our local big supermarket grocers or chemist stores in Australia, I think it is the same in the US.

Please let us know how your hen improving.

If you're certain you know who it is then just the one who is having issues, if you aren't entirely sure you can give one to everyone who is laying, it will be fine as it's only short term. It is a pill and you'd use the same ones made for humans, you should be able to find them anywhere that sells human vitamins
