Lowes playhouse 4x4 "My Little Playhouse" Kankakee Illinois $149!

It's a great little playhouse and I think it will work fine, but no way is it worth $400! I hope LisaJean's letter to the manufacturer works out, they could sell a ton of them marketed as a small coop; and at a lower price. I'll soon have pics up of my "doubled" one up, almost done painting it. Just have to attache the run now.

I was just browsing, and figured this out about the lowes website. If you go to the page with the coop ( i mean playhouse) and choose your local lowes, it will tell you the price there. Just stay on that page, and at the top there is a dropdown box with a list of nearby stores. Just choose another one, and it will show the price at that store. But when you go back to the dropdown list of nearby stores, it will be a new list os stores originating from the store you are currently viewing. By doing this, I've moved through several nearby counties, and you could move across the country this way if you wanted too.

Anyway, here is what I found....

Ontario, Ohio .......$199
Traverse City, Michigan.........$199
Wilmington Pike, Ohio ..........$199

Yeah, I need to find better things to do

Anyway, there a few leads, I didn't look too much, but they are out there for $199.

I called my local Lowes about it, and they said they arent stocking them anymore. They had them for Christmas, and he said they didnt sell so well, so they arent offering them anymore. Id love to find one, but Ive exhaused all my sources for one.

That's what our Lowe's said also, that they would honor the $99 but it was a clearance item at this point and they were out of them. They're no longer carrying it.

I got one today in Missouri. They were $199 at my store but I printed out one for $149 from the Schererville, IN store and they honored it. I think with just a few modifications it will work well. Maybe it will be for my Silkies that are in the incubator.

They are $399 at my local Lowe's, but I took in the printout from the Schererville, IN store where it's listed at $149 and my store honored it. They had 3 left, and I bought 2, but now I'm kicking myself thinking I should have bought all three! I'm sure when my kiddos see it they are going to want to keep one for themselves!

Thanks. We love it as well. No, we haven't yet done this, but I think it's a great idea, especially now that two of you agree.

I think I'll pick some up the next time I'm at Home Depot. Hmmmm, and with Spring-like weather in So. Cal right now, maybe I'll pick up some plants as well.

I'm getting the gardening itch!

I am so lucky that I saw this posting!

My wife and I were at Lowes on Saturday and saw this playhouse and thought it would be perfect for a coop but the price was $399. I followed this thread and hit some of the stores in IL and printed out one of the stores listing at $149.

My local store honored the price! I was thrilled! So now I have a great starting point for my families first coop. We're just now getting into having chickens and I was having problems figuring out a design for a coop and such. This is perfect and with minor modifications it'll be great!

I'll post up pictures after my mods. Here's a list of what I want to do though.

Add a smaller chicken door and use the larger door for "maintenance"
Put a floor in
Put on a hinged plywood roof. Then use the wood shingles included over the plywood for decorations
Build multipurpose window covers. One screaned for the summer and one thick plastic for the winter
