Oh those? Me and sis did that to our lesson horses before we got horses. They weren't as fun as you'd think

Yeah. They got tangled twice as bad as the actual mane and were even harder to untangle

I see. It's probably just pretty for pictures. And then you can take it out afterwards so they don't tangle. I used to braid colored ribbons in my horses hair. It looked cool but I haven't done it in awhile

Yeah, that's probably the best plan. They look weird if the horse's mane isn't as long as the colored stuff too.

Yeah, my horse has a freakishly short mane. I haven't cut it in almost 5 years and it's pretty much the same length it was when I first got her

I've only had one horse who's mane actually grows and that's Ginger. It grows pretty fast too.

Cool. What breed is she? Sometimes certain breeds have a longer or thicker manes like gypsy vanners

She's an arabian mix of some sort. Not a purebred arab, but she's definitely mostly arab.

Freisian

Arabian - long, but not as long as those two breeds
