Ma’am... I’m gonna need to see some ID

I mail ordered 15 chickens from a hatchery. 3 unsexed silkies, 2 F ISA brown , 1 M ISA brown, 2 F Cinnamon Queens, 1 F Sappire Gem, 1 F Amberlink, 1 F Silverlaced Polish and 4 F Americana. They gave me 16. 1 silkie and another bird died. I don’t know what I have anymore . Silkies, the polish & the Sapphire Gem... I got them. By looking at the color of the claws, I think I have 3 Easter Eggers/Americana and 1 died. But for the the life of me, I can’t figure out the Cinnamon Queens vs the ISA Brown females. And since I have 3 yellow/white birds, I’m thinking 1 is the Amberlink and the other 2 (judging by behavior, comb promiance and size... although they are only 3 weeks) might be ISA Roos (oh joy. An extra rooster. ) can anyone identify these?

The darker ones are the Isa browns I believe.

That’s what I was afraid of. So I only have 2 orange ones... but I ordered 2 female ISA browns and 2 female Cinnamon Queens. So something is amiss and I got an extra Roo. I can’t free range due to a hoard of different land and air predators. But I do have multiple coops... how many hens does it take to make one Rooster happy?

Depends on the roo. They say usually anywhere from 8-15 per roo... OR more. And the thing is, with a young cockerel who's been raised in a flock without older chickens or roosters to put him in his place... He's going to be overly aggressive. Most people suggest separating them cockerels from the pullets and raise them separately until they learn how to be gentlemen to the ladies.

Thanks for the info! I actually have an older silkie roo. Sweet as can be to the family... but won’t hesitate to chase the dogs across the yard! LOL! Would the younger ones be good with him... or do you think they would get overly bullied?

Depends on the roo. I just lost my roo, so I don't know how he would have been with babies, although he was the perfect roo in any other way. Great with the ladies, great with people, and my dog.
